    2014 Passat TDI Pilot Bearing

The LuK I bought from Rock Auto came with a closed end bearing. I didn’t do the job myself so I don’t know what was in the car. The shop didn’t say anything about it being different.

2013 VW Passat TDI CKRA 2.0 Running

Some bean counter probably forced the engineers to make that harness 5 mm shorter than it needed to be to give the wires a little slack. Stupid. They don’t make it easy to post photos on this forum. You can create an “album” in the Media section, upload your photos to it, then hit the camera...

2013 VW Passat TDI CKRA 2.0 Running

Follow the wiring harness from the aux pump over to where there is a connector somewhere on the drivers side front. On my car, two of the wires broke off right where they go into the connector because they were in tension.

    2013 Passat engine rattle

The T-belt, water pump, cam seal and crank seal job is not going to give a pro mechanic much of a problem. There are forum discussions here and elsewhere, YouTube videos, etc. that lay it out for you. As far as getting another 100K on one of these that already has 180K, well, good luck with...

2015 CRVA DSG Oil Leakage at 200k

Did you check any of the half dozen possible leak sources that were discussed earlier in the thread?

    DSG help needed!!

Just to be certain, you know that once you take the drain plug out, there’s a black plastic tube in there that you have to unscrew and remove to drain the old fluid, then put it back in before refilling, right?

    Dual Mass Flywheel Question

From memory, as best as I was able to ascertain, there are two LuK DMF part numbers for the DSG transmissions in our cars. One was developed to be suitable for cars that had the automatic engine start/stop feature (none of the TDI’s sold in the US had this); the other was just the normal one. I...

2012 VW Passat ECM and Cluster Repair

You would really need to provide a lot more information to get a meaningful response. How long have you owned the car? How many miles on it? How much are you into it for? Service history? What caused it to go into the shop? Is it a flood car, theft recovery, or crashed? Is there any reason to...

    Determining Timing Belt Age

If you have no records on the car (not even a Carfax?), and you think you want to keep it for awhile, I would look at the maintenance schedule for that model year, and make a list of everything that has a service interval. Then go through and do everything - zero it all out. Fluids, filters...

Anyone gone from TDI to 2.5?

I’m curious if anyone reading this has gone from a diesel NMS Passat to a gas one (mostly interested in the five cylinder 2.5 liter engine), and what your impressions are. I have 164K on my 2013 TDI now, and I’m trying to decide if picking up a low mileage gasser as a backup/eventual replacement...

2013 Passat TDI- currently battling vw

Wait - the dealer is claiming “contamination” because you used DEF that is sold in every gas station, auto parts store, Walmart, Costco, etc., instead of official VW Parts Dept. DEF?

Damaged Heater Core Pipes on Installation... Recourse?

I would have more confidence in a connection lIke that if it were possible to form a bead at the ends of the pipes.

    Passat 2.0 tear-down video

When I replaced my valve cover and injectors, all I did was put the new injector serial numbers into the ECU and run the output test for the fuel pump for 20 or 30 seconds. It fired up instantly, with no leaks or other issues. (I should have done the injectors tens of thousand of miles before I...

Valve Cover Replacement for 2014 VW Passat TDI (CKRA Engine).

“2011 - 2015 Passat NMS Saloon” is the one that covers our cars. NMS stands for “big cheap Passat for the stupid fat Americans” in German. The OBDEleven can definitely activate the lift pump - I do it every time I replace the fuel filter. It always takes me some time to find where in the app...

Valve Cover Replacement for 2014 VW Passat TDI (CKRA Engine).

An alternative to VCDS is OBDEleven, which uses a Bluetooth dongle and your phone instead of a cable and a laptop. I have one; it’s been fine for my limited purposes. It appears that their current pricing scheme is to sell you the dongle with certain capabilities, and to charge an annual...
