I know I'm not around here much any more (oh VW, why can't I buy a compact AWD TDI!), but I have plenty of reputation on other car forums, and you can see my business website in my sig.
OEM TT Shifter. 8N0 711 051B. $40

Agreed. I would never run a 9lb FW on a TDI - heck, I don't even run close to that light on my 1.8T! I'd go with a FW twice that weight, and even then consider a Fluidampr and clutch disc with fully-enclosed marcel springs (one of the reasons I went with Clutchnet).
Yeah, as mentioned, the compressed gasket thickness info is out there - I was able to find it for all of the gaskets I was looking at (4 or 5 of the gasser ones).
Why not just measure your piston-to-deck clearance? If you're interested in going as far, I calculated my true compression ratio by measuring the following, and doing some calculations: piston-to-deck clearance, piston clearance and top ring height, piston dish and combustion chamber volumes...
Great dynos - thanks for all the work! These 250wHP dynos are tempting me to come back to diesel :)
I think trap speeds are the best judge of real-world power. Traction plays a rather insignificant role, and there are many, many people running 1/4 miles for comparison. ET and 0-60 mean next...
Yeah, I wasn't saying to run 1.8T bearings in your TDI :D I was just speculating that they might make TDI bearings as well...I don't know if they actually do.
Integrated Engineering. They're actually engineers, and have a ton of knowledge/experience - something rarely found in parts suppliers.
Piranha, what kind of power are you making that you keep blowing up bearings? Are other big-power TDI guys having this problem? What oil weight are you using?
I'd be wary of any mechanic telling you that you made too much torque for your bearings. Are you sure he used calipers/micrometers/etc. to check the clearances on the bearings? Plastigauge generally reads fairly accurately, but not always. It can be subject to user error as well.
I used...
Regina here, but I sold all my TDIs! I'm still toying with dropping one into my TT, or picking up another ALH Golf...
I have a VAG-COM if any of you Regina guys ever need one.
I'm excited to see someone pushing the TDI scene to new levels - good job, guys! This is exactly what I wanted to happen to the TDI scene :)
TDIsyncro, I'd love to buy you a beer when the car is done...and get a ride in that beast! If you need parts sourced/shipped/whatever from Regina, just...
I don't recall the exact specifics - I went through 4 turbos in the matter of a couple of months and have tried my best to block it from memory :( It was a contributing factor to me dumping my TDI and moving to a gasser...I was just having too many problems with turbos, tuning, etc.
I thought...
Sold!
I bought this new from Kerma a couple of years ago and was whining as soon as I started the car after install - there was shaft play out of the box  I was quoted $500-600 to rebuild it, so figured it must be worth a couple of hundred for someone to get what is essentially a brand...
Good info, Pat - thanks.
GiGGer, I'm looking for quite a bit more power than my budget will allow me to produce from those engines. It's still good to have people post options, though ;)
Maybe you should re-read my original post and see if you have any useful - ie., relevant - information to...
This is exactly what I'm thinking about. If I can get a 5-cylinder (300+whp) into my TT without a ton of custom fabrication, I'll seriously consider doing it.
The big issues are going to be engine mounts and the bellhousings (covered below). Ryan, have you found a 5-cylinder TDI that will...
I'm wondering how you guys know which engines drop right into which platforms, ie. engine mounts, bellhousings, etc.? Is there somewhere I can reference for this? Either way, it would be great to compile a list of all engines that bolt in to our North American platforms.
I sold my TDI and...
Awesome, awesome stuff, Dave! This is exactly the kind of development I've been wanting to see in the diesel field.
Why are you looking for a longitudinal chassis? Isn't the AXG a transverse engine? Does it drop in to the VAG MKIV platform?
AKE was a Euro Audi A4 engine (180hp, as stated), and the AllRoad was never offered in Canada as TDI, so I'd think that he did the swap. Pretty sweet swap, though!
