Ok I tried testing how much fuel came out of the center port of the filter (ie - clean fuel to the engine), and I get zero flow. When we say a 'key cycle' this does not include starting the car correct?
I tried cycling the key to everything but start several times and continue to get zero...
To be specific on this - I gather the lift pump sends fuel through the fuel filter, and then from the fuel filter to the rails. I think the lines that emerge on the inboard side (close to the cabin and attached to a tee clipped in with a mickey mouse clip) are the ones that go to the rail, so...
Ok DanG - I'll test it tonight or tomorrow and update later.
Thanks again for all the input - it's been very, very helpful, and saved me from a long drive to have it looked at, at least for now. So thanks!
Update: - I replaced the fuel filter and primed it with diesel. I checked whether the lift pump at least sounds like it's working and there is a sound for a couple of seconds coming from it as you described. I made the mistake of letting the car sit for 45 mins or so before starting after the...
This is just a quick post to see if I can get a consensus on the following symptom. My automatic 2004 automatic PD has been giving us some problems recently and my wife is now afraid to take the car out on her own.
The recurring issue is that we start the car, get about a block or two away...
Just wanted to post that I got my gauge ok and can't wait to install it. My problem is lack of a heated garage and outside temps continuing to hover in the -10 to -20 C range. I'll let you know when its in!
Thanks again Doniol!
Hi all,
I just wanted to post a problem that came up with my wife's 2004 Jetta PD yesterday morning:
The event:
- My wife drove her car up the street (a slight uphill incline) on her way to work in the morning, made it about 200 feet and she said she noticed her power steering starting to give...
Ah - here's hoping the '04 version holds up longer...
I do like that the '04 sport ed auto has 5 speeds - I find that at the very least, the tiptronic is handy for warming it up the car on cold morning (keeping it locked in 2nd or 3rd so it doesn't drop into 5th when coasting).
I'm running a stage 1+ RC tune on the same car (my wife's) since June and it hasn't had any problems, of course she doesn't drive it the way I drive the std tranny with the same tune... nevertheless, no ill effects noted since June.
What's the O1M?
LoL - I hear you - I've been struggling with the same issue of maximizing (i.e. what is the PERFECT winter tire considering cost/snow grip/noise/wear rate/cost?).
So - the worst case scenarios we're facing:
Scenario one - you pick the Performance Snow tire - it doesn't snow, EVER...
Just to echo this - I recently got an over the phone quote for 205/55R16s:
Hakka Rs -> 217.97 per tire (I almost fell off my chair)
Hakka WRG2s -> 188.69 per tire installed on my aluminum wheels for 755 + tax
Edit - I'm giving up on Nokians unless anyone knows of a deal for a lot cheaper than...
Doniol listed the costs earlier in the thread, but be aware that his most current list has only so many spots so at some point (if not already) they'll all become spoken for...
