I received it two days ago, 3 days delayed, because the first email from the bank ended up in my Spam folder and got deleted (look for an email from Chase, not VW). I had to call the bank and have them resend the email. This last step of the buyback process is dead simple indeed, and after I...
I hear you! For a few days I had the same thoughts and feelings when I sold back my car last week. Originally I intended to keep my 2013 Passat SEL Premium until it would fall apart, but VW offered to buy it for about what I paid for a new one 3 years ago. Still, I really liked this car, the...
Just finished the buy-back
Our 2010 Jetta and 2013 Passat were bought back earlier today. The process for both cars together took less than 20 minutes.
I was not asked to show my ID or registration, and after final sales papers were signed and the title was handed over we went out to the cars...
Same here, just completed the upload. The language on this page is a bit confusing though. Our eligibility was already confirmed when we submitted our claims a while ago. Now the website says that the "eligibility has to be determined". Must be twisted lawyer's talk....
An article on a UK website:
VW Dieselgate engineer sings like a canary: Entire design team was in on it – not just a couple of bad apples. Techie admits conspiracy.
vwcourtsettlement.com lists today as the date for the "preliminary approval hearing".
"What are the next steps?
Judge Charles Breyer will hold what is referred to as a preliminary approval hearing on the proposed Settlements on July 26, 2016. At this hearing, he will hear from the parties about...

VW Cheating Code Words Complicate Emissions Probe
From today's Bloomberg/Technology article:
"The probe, which was expected to wrap up by the end of April, has been slowed by the use of dozens of code words, including “acoustic software,” for the illicit technology Volkswagen used to turn off...
Based on Mr. Furious' excellent advise I too have moved to Pioneer, in my case I installed the 8100NEX, along with the Maestro harness. Overall I am extremely happy with this change.
But contrary to Maestro's promise that all MFI info would be retained, it turned out not to be the case – and...
From the wired.com article:
"For years, car owners with keyless entry systems have reported thieves approaching their vehicles with mysterious devices and effortlessly opening them in seconds. After having his Prius burgled repeatedly outside his Los Angeles home, the New York Times‘ former...
Which one do you have in mind? I ditched the RNS510 for a Pioneer AVIC 8100NEX and I'm very happy with this change, check out here what it took to make this update.
Replacing is the better approach. This spring I finally removed my RNS-510 and had a Pioneer AVIC 8100NEC installed - and I have zero issues. Sold the old unit on eBay and after everything was done and sold I ended up with about $300 out of pocket for the new AppRadio head unit.
This is a great video, thanks for sharing. It also seems to indicate the MPG drop after the upcoming software "fix" for eligible models may not be as dramatic as some of us here might expect. Still ... we've been cheated.
Finally someone debunks the illusion of clean electric cars, thank you. Have we really forgotten where most electricity comes from in this country?
I personally prefer my (currently not so) clean diesel over any electric vehicle and I'd switch only when electricity is generated 100% clean.
This is the live stream from this hearing, it's currently in recess.
I watched the morning part and while there were some tough questions for Michael Horn there were no surprises.
Except maybe his statement that VW USA knew about the failure to comply with US emissions standards which was...
New VW CEO says cars hit by emissions-rigging scandal to be refitted
Volkswagen's plan to address its diesel emissions scandal will reportedly include new software to bring affected vehicles into legal compliance.
