Rare cats It is true that there are not very many XE's floating around here in the USA. I have been very pleased with mine. Gets right around 40 MPG in town, 48-50 on the highway. It can cruise at speeds above the sane. The down side is no dealer within 200 miles for me. But my experience...

    Suggest a "new" ride

New ride I have been very happy with my Jaguar XE. About 40 MPG in town, 48-52 on long road trips depending on things like the need for AC and the wind speed and direction. Ride comfort is outstanding. Handling is great. I like the minimalist interior. Your taste may be different. The diesel...

    Mercedes E250 Bluetec

All I can say is that this is the exact opposite of how I have been treated by 4 different Jaguar dealers. I have come to expect to have tea and biscuits. Two of the dealers have fit me in for the bundled service when I have been on extended road trips. The dealer in Spokane agreed to not...

The first few years of the gasoline engine XE used a modified Ford engine. The diesels were a clean sheet design from the start. And the 2018 gasoline XE uses an engine based on the diesel block. Tin Man: glad to hear that my XE is not the only one yielding that kind of fuel economy.

    Mercedes E250 Bluetec

Not quite a Mercedes... better. That car is a Jaguar. Both the XE and the XF come with a diesel, as does the F-Pace "cross over type thingy".

If you are looking for a new car with a diesel the Jaguar XF is also available. Can't speak for the XF, but my XE has been a wonderful vehicle.

As I recall, the 1969-70 Mustang Mach I with the 428 had a large portion of the engine ahead of the front axle, in addition to having to lift the engine in order to change spark plugs. They had about a 60/40 F/R weight distribution and were a truly horrid car in spite of what Mustang fanciers...

    2018 equinox diesel

If you want a tow car, get a Jag! https://www.jaguar.co.uk/news/tow-car-2016-awards.html Not sure what they are rated in the USA, but that 1550 Kg works out to over 3400 pounds. I understand that my XE is rated at 1800 Kilograms in the UK. That is close to 4,000 pounds. Even better than the XF.

Built in SATnav For the past 5 or 6 years I used phone based SATnav. Then I bought the Jag... While the user interface on the integrated SATnav stinks, and the touch screen on the Jag is very slow, I very much like having a warning display in the dash that tells me which lane(s) to be in when...

Tow car? Get a Jaguar XE I believe that my XE is rated at 4,000 lbs tow capacity. Not sure that I plan on trying that... I did just finish an extended road trip, and on the leg from the SF Bay area to Portland OR I got 51 MPG. Going through Bend too, so there were several mountain passes to...

My wife was sad to see the Jetta go. And when it first arrived, the Jag was "your" car. It took about a month to become "our" car. Now? Hmmmm... it is still "our" car, but since I ride a bike when I go somewhere local it is really her car. I notice your mileage. On the highway, we have...

English Cars... As far as a tune goes, what you are saying is not unexpected. I thought I read that JLR had a 2 liter diesel that made about 40 BHP more with some significant strengthening of the crank and piston crown cooling. That speaks to an engine with little headroom. Probably never a...

Owain: from what I am reading, stock the Jag is about like a stage 2 tune on a 2015 VW. It was a large step up from the 2013 Jetta. And if I select Sport mode on the gear selector and the performance selector, it is noticeably quicker than in ECO mode and drive. So no more power for...

The TDI buyback was too good a deal for me. I got about 4K more for the car than I paid new. So with the GBP at $1.25 I splurged and bought a Jaguar XE 2.0d RWD. With the winter package I paid around $35K. The Jag is my third English vehicle. You would think I would learn. This is by far and...
