Just Reached 200K! Help me reach 300K! Seeking Advice

Agree with this... the body on my Golf has deteriorated more than anything in the course of 300,000 miles of daily Michigan driving. The steering wheel is also super worn out in mine. By 200K miles you should have refreshed suspension components and engine mounts too (imo) As others have said...

Instructions for checking timing https://www.ross-tech.com/vag-scope/TDIGraph.html Step by step: Make sure you are using thecurrent version of VCDS or a fully registered version of VCDS-Lite) Start your engine and make sure the coolant is up to normal running temp. TDI engines may take a...

    New here

can confirm this.... When I repaired my rockers I was astounded by how much dirt and debris had made its way in there... The rocker was only rusted wide open though. 😅 I spent a few months last year repairing the rust on my 03 Golf. My dad bought this brand new in 2003, and gave it to me on my...

    Should I be worried?

Seems like its time for a new exhaust, or downpipe. I installed my full kit in a single afternoon. Was very straight forward, maybe a few hassles dealing with the old exhaust hangers.... How many miles on the vehicle? Sounds like it might still have the original turbo and the vanes might be...

What did you do to your MKIV today?

I did consider my options before deciding to remove the whole trans and replace the RMS. I would have had to grind down and modify the tap significantly just to attempt it. With the RMS being plastic and the threads appearing to be brass, I didn't want to take the chance of having another oil...

    Black bits in coolant

What did you collect the coolant in? Did this possibly come from residue in the container you used?(might be silly, but have to ask) Did you collect the coolant in something black that could have stripped the surface of the container and caused this? Are these black bits present in your coolant...

What did you do to your MKIV today?

In pursuit of fixing an oil leak, I accidentally cross threaded one of the hidden bolts for the oil pan that goes directly into the rear main seal..... yay.... what a PITA oil pan to deal with..... now the entire transmission gets to come out and a new metal rear main seal is going on in place...

    White smoke

Good thinking with the EGR cooler potentially being as issue.. I have purposely removed the EGR cooler with a bypass kit when I deleted my EGR. Opens things up nicely under the hood and behind the motor. But yes, the exhaust gasses and coolant would be moving through the EGR heat...

    Rocker repair shops

I simply reused the threaded piece that was in there originally. All original mounting points were kept for the fenders.

    White smoke

Agree with this. Need to know which model. Check for loss of coolant in the reservoir after driving. Did you change the head gasket yourself?

    Rocker repair shops

While this is not "professionally" done, I just repaired my rockers by using some metal mesh and bondo. My entire rocker was gone on one side.... 20 years of driving in Michigan.... not too surprising. I don't seem to have any good before pics, but here's a few of the after. Might look a little...

03 TDI ALH - Low end lag / Lack of responsiveness with Stage 4 tune

Heres a log of 3rd gear, foot to the floor 1500RPMs - 4K I can count out 4-5 seconds before it makes boost. I noticed the check valve on the N75 allows a slight amount of air through so I ordered a new one just to make sure its all good. My issue is on the low end @Wildchild80. The high RPMS...

03 TDI ALH - Low end lag / Lack of responsiveness with Stage 4 tune

Hey guys, Trying to figure out my TDIs lack of response on the lower RPMs. It really seems like the car has a significant lag issue on the low end of the RPMs (1000-2500)... the car is very unresponsive until around 2500+ RPM. I have vag-com and logged a bit of data showing #11 and #3 measuring...
