I had the same problem with rear camber, turned out the upper adjustment bolt had loosened slightly. It took me 6 months to figure it out...2 garages said it required special tooling, and the dealer said they couldn't fix it without replacing a bunch of parts...I fixed it in my garage with a...
I recently did a lift on my 2011 JSW. I used towing springs in the rear, and Tiguan 2wd springs in the front. As well, I swapped from 205-55-16 tires to 205-65-16's. It drives great, doesn't look too radical, and most important, we dont bottom out or bend rims anymore, all things the stock...
I use different size tires for snows, I run 195/60/16. I don't know if the mercedes wheels will fit, but the bolt pattern is correct. The other factor is backspacing. I suspect the mercedes wheels would fit, but I wouldn't guarantee it without a test fit.
From what I can tell, while searching around, is that the GTI and the sportwagen share the same front brakes, there are a lot of threads about the Golf GTI upgrades.
Referring to front wheels only, it looks like from the VW parts database that smaller Golf/Jetta 15" brakes could be swapped out for 16" Sportwagen brakes if the entire assembly from the wheel bearing housing out were swapped. What prevents, if anything, one from doing this?
2011 JSW, bought new in February 2011. Currently 152,000 miles on it. The only failure I've had based on normal wear is the RCV in the A/C system. The dealer only replaces the entire compressor, and quoted $1500 for the repair, but I bought the valve for $44 and for another 100 more or less I...
I think you are right, its the roads...but in combination with the low profile tires. The roads are very uneven, crowned, etc, and low profile tires wear rather than conform to the surface. I love the VW, but the achilles heel is the ride height and tire sidewall limitations...for Maine.
I have changed my fuel filter about 4 times so far. You don't need to do anything except take out the old one slowly, and put the new one in slowly. If it's more than 2/3rds full, there isn't going to be an issue.
I've never in my life taken a car to a dealer and had the problem I came in...
I am running 205-65/16's with no trouble or rubbing of any kind in any situation. I had to get more side wall after bending 6 biolines with the 55 series sidewalls. That, and I gave up and just went to steel rims.
I'd love to have ANY set of tires last more than 20k. My 2011 JSW now has about 140k on it, and I've found that the average set of tires is dead after 15k, but I push them till the cords are showing to get 20k. I have had alignments done by both dealers and regular shops, and change summer and...
What looks even sillier is my broken crossmember, all 4 Biolines bent, dented up floor pan, as well as the splash pan ripped off from hitting rocks and holes in the road. If there was a higher car sold that could still get over 40mpg, I'd own it. Until then, this one is getting a raise. I...
I spent many years working on large low speed marine diesels. Pretty cool listening to one flat out max and turing 95 rpms. While manuevering, they will turn as low as 24 rpms. Direct connected, reversing.
Bought Febuary 2011, Waterville Maine,
Black/black, DSG,
additional options: mats & mud flaps.
MSRP was $27K,
Paid $25,200, plus Maine 5% tax of $1260
Total of everything paid out the door $26460.
I had to do a lot of price matching calls, and all others local dealers gave up at this...
My '11 JSW DSD got a highway average of 36 mpg when new. Yesterday, a four hour round trip I was able to coax 44.9 out of it, but at a really boring 55 miles per hour.
Typical highway driving at normal speeds is now, at 2,000 miles, only 38-40 mpg.
