*** KNOCKING WOOD *** I've had my 02 Golf TDI for 3 years now and the only problem I've had was the window clip which was replaced (the dealer did both sides) under warranty.

yeah, my brother-in-law owns a Hummer and "uses" it for business .. he does home appreciation checks. NEVER takes it off road. He once went to a Hummer meeting, and took it off road. after the meeting, straight to the car wash to clean it off and never went off roading after that.

I use McGuires tire stuff, yanno the purple stuff that smells like grape juice. it keeps he dash nice looking for a longer time than Armor All (IMHO). I live in southeast Texas, so we too have brutal sun.

yeah, when I read "roll over" I pictured a smash'em, crash'em, squish'em hunk of something that used to resemble an auto. It "looks" wholely intact with some cracked glass and damaged fenders. As C3P0 said "the damage doesn't look so bad from out here". The main thing is your wife wasn't hurt.

I've had the TT tires on my 02 Golf TDI for about a month and love them. the ride is quieter than before and they handle just as well as the OEM mich's. My "personal" feeling, I wouldn't put a set of Bridgestone/Firestone tires on my car if they were given to me.

Re: Diesel prices got you down? Something to consi about driving 55 in a posted 65/70 ... you can get a ticket called "impeding traffic". you gotta flow with the traffic, even if it is over the posted speed limit. Try driving slow in LA (unless you're OJ), if ya don't get run over or shot at...

I worked on F-111's and F-16's .. avionics. anyhoo .. in my case the odo and speedo are both off. I drive slightly over the posted speed or just flow with traffic.

yep cdach2000 same here, I used my GPS to show my 2002 Golf TDI is about 3 mph faster than actual, also the odometer is also off by measuring the GPS and the mile markers on the interstate. I measured it over 150 miles.

thanks for the replys. I bought some new Goodyear Eagle GT's. I found out that the McGuires removed some kinda something from the rubber that caused the cracks. This "something" helps the tire maintain it's rubbery form when cornering hard.
