I've been looking (and probably missed) an UOA of XD-3. I've look at Bob's site but still can't find anything with a TDI and XD-3. How is the oil looking after 16,000kms, etc.

It's AWESOME. Had one installed in my 01 NB and it works great.. starts right up in the morning and instant heat from ~3 hours of being on. Best investment ever, especially when the wife leaves the house before 7am on her way to Oxford everyday. You can source the parts here (Cdn.Tire I believe)...

Wow.. very interesting. I have 50k kms on mine and still look new! I've been tracking my mileage since getting the stock Conti's off the Beetle and haven't seen any noticable difference either; but I do agree they do hum a little more than I would like. I hope you're getting some warranty $$$...

I could relay some horror stories about Vantage.. but I suppose there are always those out there with bad experiences, but I give them the benefit of the doubt each time I go in for service and always swear I'll never go back, but I do!

I think all you have to do is take a drive down to the refinery/distribution centre in Dartmouth, find the big diesel tank and watch all the different companies delivery trucks pull up to the same one. .. that eases a lot of the confusion!

Hi all. Just changed my oil with Esso XD-3 0w40 for those cold starts in the morning. Cheap too, $21/4L at Wallyworld. I've been searching for more info on XD-3 and haven't really found much. Anyone know of an oil analysis done after running the stuff in a TDI?.. just wondering if it really is...

Anyone know a ballpark figure on what rotors should cost at the dealer?.. I had my rotors replaced a few weeks back and know I got absolutely hosed.. but before I go in to mention it I would like to see if anyone knows what the price of a front rotor should be!... ..should have checked at...

I did put them up to ~40psi for a couple of tanks, but they were so harsh and didn't improve economy so I dropped them back a bit. As for venting, I do vent a smidge but I just don't wait around for it and squeeze maybe 54L into the tank (which probably accounts for the crappy mileage...

Our average is 5.4L/100kms right now in our 01 NB.. although that isn't accurate because I don't spend a heckuva lot of time venting while I'm at Wilsons, I'm a little disappointed because I would love to drop below 5L/100kms.. oh well, winter diesel and winter tires are here!

NB \"Front Pads Worn\" light coming on... I guess that's my problem.. I watched them do the inspection and they were actually quite physical checking all the suspension bits.. but I know that there is a lot of pad left on both front brakes that's why I was wondering if they could have bumped...

I just noticed Diesel here in my rural NS town went to .929/L yesterday, up from .889/L. It is now the same price as gas. This time last year it was .639/L. Ouch.
