Your replacing a 3rd DPF on a 2010 Gen 1 or even a Gen 2? what's the mileage on it?

Exhaust Flap - Weak Link in Emissions System?

I have a 2010 Jetta, had a "Check Engine" light come on at 78K, my VW Guru checked the code and saw it was the exhaust flap, he said this is a known issue and covered under extended warranty. Took vehicle back to dealership and they fixed it under warranty. Unfortunately I think the above...

Volkswagen's Clean Air Act violations on 2009+ TDIs spark huge recall, investigations

Got my Goodwill Package today...went to the Dealership to get it activated. This translates into: a set of tires - Michelins and wiper blades ($500 Dealership Card) 70K service, a Roku 4 and stuff off my Amazon 'Wish List' ($500 Credit Card) I asked them about what they knew, were doing, when...

Volkswagen's Clean Air Act violations on 2009+ TDIs spark huge recall, investigations

I'm sure the crunchy mom or hippy dad that is distributing this tripe is more afraid of gluten that a TDi. Hop back into your Prius, go get your your canibus prescription and go waste other peoples time online by pontificating about not vaccinating your kids.

Volkswagen's Clean Air Act violations on 2009+ TDIs spark huge recall, investigations

Just admit it...we bought the TDi because they were advertised as 'clean' and get great fuel mileage....I did...it's a 'have your cake and eat it' situation...and we thought we could. It appears otherwise. Hybrid vehicles are advertised the same way...they tout 'helping the environment' and...

    Brand new Jetta tdi!!!

I understand that Loves Diesel is not the greatest stuff, the big rigs don't care what they eat and are more tolerable of low Cetane, low quality fuel. They didn't get high ratings in an older study. Our TDI's are a little more finicky....so using a fuel additive boost may be in order. I'd say...

jetta feels like it moves right to left

Lived in Texas...Dallas/Forth Worth area for 20+ years. NEVER had a problem starting my TDI, only once or twice did it not fire up on first try and 2nd time it started ran rough for 30 seconds then smoothed out. A frost heater is completely unnecessary where you are. On occasion in Texas there...

NHTSA Update on CR HPFP failure investigation

This Forum is a microcosm of TDI enthusiasts/owners/lovers, etc. lots of great folks, info, entertainment and knowledge. It's a great place. The HPFP issue amounts to 2%.....I'll say it again 2%. That comprises the multitude of new buyers, inept Dealerships Staff (misfueling) and manufacturing...

    Optilube for 2009+ TDI Engines

I've yet to hear on this Forum or elsewhere of Optilube XPD causing any problems in a CR or other TDI. You'll get widely varying options from "it's snake oil" to "use it-love it". I suppose if you dumped a quart into your tank of a CR that might not be a wise choice. If it were an issue surely...

    5 year zero problem thread?

This September will be 5 years and/or 70K with no real issues. I did have an Ignition Harness replaced about 2 years ago that was faulty from the factory, causing sporadic problems. When it did finally fail it took the Dealership a number of tries to diagnose then fix it. I do the regular...

VW says AWD SportWagen coming in 2016

I'd like to know about that also. Does this mean VW will dump the DPF and we'll have an Adblue system or will it remain a 2-part solution for emissions (a DPF + Adblue) on the TDI's?

    NHSTA ends investigation...

It basically means Microsoft will "fix" the problem by releasing a new version, with it's own set of new problems rather that fix the old version. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a root cause, the NTSB and VWoA appear to have moved on...problem addressed, replace HPFPs and that's that...

    NHSTA ends investigation...

.....I'll be holding onto my receipts. I think "it's over"....not fixed, I bet we won't see any science. The NTSB concluded their investigation, VWofA is now replacing HPFP's long after warranty. I'd also go as far to say we won't see a resolution or explanation on the root cause. Hello...

    NHSTA ends investigation...

OK so end to HPFP Conundrum..... The NTSB says 'game over" and that's that. I had my HPFP replaced 1 year ago during an unrelated mechanical issue...Dealership couldn't figure out the problem and it hadn't failed...so I have the latest revision HPFP. I'll continue to use an additive. Some may...

Clean diesels not so clean, apparently

The last TDi to blow black smoke was probably an AHL ...if you romp on the accelerator. This isn't the case anymore. Modern diesel trucks don't do this either. It's garbage, it's a blog on the internet....and you know what they say....everyone has one. This is internet gossip/uninformed...

Response recieved from Shell when I asked about 507.00 and Rotella T6

A PD needs 10W-30/40 for the cam and a CR needs 5W-30. Right?

standard guys... do you leave it in 1st when parked? or neutral + ebrake?

Parking on level ground, in first gear w/parking brake engaged. But after reading about the damage to synchros I put it in reverse from now on.

    Optilube for 2009+ TDI Engines

The amount of Optilube you add is minimal .25 to.5 oz. per 15 gallon tank (in the Jetta at least} I highly doubt it would hurt the DPF, as stated earlier, use it for the lubricity for the HPFP. Now, if you go dumping 2-stroke or Marvel Mystery oil into your fuel tank, as I recall one person...
