    DPF Replacement

Highly dependent on the dealership. I had one take two weeks to finally tell me they wouldn't support the claim. Then the next dealer did support me and it took them a whole week to do, on a CJAA.

Newbie post; tell me something i don't know

Prongs inside the bottle actually touching the fluid? If they are, try a toothbrush first and see if that solves your low level issue. As for the fluid you saw on top of the engine, no clue.

Assessment of camshaft & lifters (BEW)

1mm wear! Yeah, that was good to change. Lifters to me don't look too terrible, but everything needs to be changed together.

EPA Just Deregulated Diesel Emissions Standards

So now people can resume buying delete kits from Rawtek...but at 25% tariff, or is it 200%...hard to keep track.

    Timing belt skip tooth

The belt can be installed with a tooth off in a CVCA (2015) engine, and the car starts and runs...but then complaints about cam to crank correlation. Which is what happened to me the first time I did the belt in my Passat. The top end can't just fail and break rocker arms and lifters, that is...

What are the best years TDI? In your opinion?

I went and test drove a '97 with a Z1 or AHU (not sure) in the winter, the choke start and the big plume of smoke with that start prevented me to consider that car; ended up buying a Saturn. Both used cars. Then I did buy my first TDI, a BEW wagon, which nowadays clocks at 450k km or more, with...

1.6 TDI Judder at 50mph in 6th gear

I remember reading of a couple or more people with common rail, new 1.6 and unbalanced injectors. Solution seems to be new injectors.

You're out of warranty by time by about a couple of years, unfortunately.

Also, just to cross that off, have you checked if your car has no dieselgate warranty left? Here: https://www.vw.com/en/emissions.html

@Hooptywagen : I guess the better question is, do you enjoy wrenching? I am no mechanic, but I do enjoy the challenge of wrenching on my own cars. Was I nervous the first time I was doing a clutch, or a timing belt...hell yeah, but I can follow directions and I own my mistakes (if made), so now...

I did miss that....Find a friend (with a house) that can let you delete comes springtime, or some places have lift bays for rent (although this is risky for something you have never done).

    Solved: Sway Bar End Links

I agree with RIP, either the control arm rear bushing, or the sway bar links. Those 2 are notorious for creating clunks.

How does one keep watching the CP4? Be observant of the fuel filter. I change mine every other oil change. When you change the fuel filter have a look on the bottom of it for metal flakes, inspect the filter media for flakes, unplug the metering valve and inspect the screen for flakes. Never...
