1998 Passat, Converted using Euro Engine

I imported a engine, transmission, fuel tank and all associated stuff from Europe back in 07 and converted a 98 B5 Passat to diesel. I used this car as my commuter for the past 8 years. I have all the records for stuff that broke, every gallon of diesel and oil changes. Last fall the Clutch took...

    ALH Installed in 93 T100 4x4

I wish that was the case for me... I spent the better part of a Saturday morning trying to find a solution on the web and reverse engineering the circuitry on the amplifier board, I never found a pin-out for the chip on the board..that would been helpful. Doug

    ALH Installed in 93 T100 4x4

I now have A/C in the T100! Other than mounting the toyota compressor there are two additional hurdles to cross to have A/C in the conversion. 1st is to fool the A/C amplifier circuit board (located on top of the Evaporator behind the glove box) to think the engine is running and the 2nd is to...

    ALH Installed in 93 T100 4x4

Bead Roller I built my own crimp tool to create beads on aluminum tube ends. I made it from a crimp tool designed for TV Coax connectors and a small bolt. I welded the bolt in one of the crimp openings, ground and filed it to a shape close the bead shape . I mounted the tool in a vice and with...

    ALH Installed in 93 T100 4x4

Maybe I should have called it something different What I refer to as a bell crank is the semi circular aluminum piece which the 98 throttle position sending unit is actuated. The TDI I installed is drive by wire, the VW actuator located within the throttle pedal assemble utilizes a short cable...

    ALH Installed in 93 T100 4x4

Connector on TPS I modified the aluminum bell-crank on the VW TPS to accept the Toyota throttle cable. This required some careful drilling and notching to allow insertion of the cable end, but it seems to work very well. Doug

    ALH Installed in 93 T100 4x4

I carefully drilled the vw aluminum cable connector to accept the Toyota cable, the rest was mounting it in a way that it aligned with the mount. Actually pretty simple to do... Doug

    ALH Installed in 93 T100 4x4

Weight.... I have not planned to weigh it, I do know it sits higher in the front with this engine..... The rear of the truck is very lightly sprung compared to the front... or else I need to un-crank the torsion bars some.

reply to comments I never drove the truck when the 3.0 was in it... so I don't know what I am missing.. Thanks for the positive notes and yes I will add another video and photos as time permits. I just added this thread for others to see a T100 install, nothing special but I had not seen...

    ALH Installed in 93 T100 4x4

I started this project a year ago, the truck had a blown v6 engine but the clutch was new (5 Speed manual seems to be ok). It had sit for over 3 years under a tree with the rear window slide open enough for a bird to nest in the heater... I had a wrecked 98 New Beetle TDI for parts and had...

    Need help with Accelerator Signal

Cool! I will give this a try over the weekend. I know it worked for the first three weeks, and then it just stopped, I guess there could be a loose adjustment. Thanks a lot!

    Need help with Accelerator Signal

Using the TDI unit I am using the sending unit that came with the engine. The 99 1.8 was a drive by wire, so it required changing out everything. I am convinced that the entire car was built around that stinking sending unit. It is a real pain in the butt for a full figured guy to access.:)...

    Need help with Accelerator Signal

I finally finished my B5 TDI project and admit it has been running well. Last week I had a problem surface that I can not explain or figure out how to fix. First off, I have the AFN engine, and running ECM 038-906-018-E8, in a 1999 Passat, that started life as a 1.8T, manual transmission. My...

How To: R/R B5.5 BHW Alternator Pulley

I ordered the tool and part yesterday. I have noticed that I must rev the engine up initialy to get rid of the battery idiot light. Now it is clicking like a duplicate diesel under the hood. the part can also be purchased from http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=213714 For...

    99 passat conversion ECM question

The Passat Runs! I received a ECM from a 1999 Mk1 (jetta?) and with a small amount of modification it plugged into the 1999 Harness connector. The VagCom saw it right away! I hit the key and purged injectors (I had the glows out to let it spin faster) and It was great to see diesel bubbles! I...

    Saturn TDI Conversion

Great looking job As a owner of several SL2 and SL1 coups in the past few years I believe you will have one super high economy car when done. My 96 SL2 averages around 35mpg, and I have seen 40 mpg on a couple occasions. The TDI should really do well! My hat is off to you for making this...

    99 passat conversion ECM question

Ecm I agree, but my lap-top has been consistant...I think I have a problem with my ecm. I left it un-plugged since midnight last night. I will try to use the Vag-com software to talk to it again this evening. When I get past this part I have other issues before completing the project. My plan...

    99 passat conversion ECM question

Thanks Scott, The radio is out of the car but good point. I basicly connected directly to the ECM and illiminated all other K-line data circuitry by connecting directly to the ecm at the firewall connector (I also removed the green/blk wire going back to the chassis) I still was not able to...
