Hey, go easy on him. The same injectors are barely adequate for 170hp in a four cylinder application. You should be congratulating him for this incredible feat...
:D
In that case, use a Mk3 TDI manifold and weld a flange. There's a way to keep things looking stock (although without pulling the engine cover off, you'd never know).
Some of us have the same 'problem' in other countries ;)
Yes, you still need G60 / 1Z / ABF flywheel.
Just mentioned what I did because mk1 83 brought it up. Nothing wrong with getting the above kit, although if it was me, I'd be looking around to see if I could get the parts cheaper (not necessarily in a 'kit'...)
GTB2056VK is superior to the 17-22...
It was proven that 1Z / G60 /2.0 16v and VR6 clutches, were, in essence, the same.

Chris mentions a lot of useful info when I quizzed him about it :)
Two problems:
SOI more advanced than 26/27 deg with stock CR (less of an issue with smaller nozzles) leads to high PCP. I suspect this had something to do with Sam's HG...
Injecting past ~6 degs PTDC = diminishing returns. Doesn't matter what turbo you have; you're out of the efficient...
28 deg SOI is a bit too advanced IMO and with that duration, EOI is 12 deg PTDC...last 4 degrees probably creating heat and nothing else.
Wouldn't really run anything more than 26 deg BTDC and 8 deg PTDC on a daily 8v PD unless you have mechanical sympathy...
250hp on 550cc injectors? No chance...
Thanks for that. I'm just erring on the side of caution; Seatman described the 'box as potentially being "slightly knackered" from sitting around in the cold for so long.
How entailed is replacing the input shaft seal? Came across some DIY guides for the output seals, which look fairly...
So,
The story goes that many years ago (over four!), I bought a long ratio 02J from a friend who goes by the tag Seatman, who was breaking the car it was originally equipped in.
Because of life and other matters, I still haven't got round to installing it (or picking it up for that matter!)...
Not if sure it's quite 400hp in this config, but the stock IZ block p0wer refers to:

Still going strong afaik. The tune is as important as the hardware.

On the Polo 9n (and similar era Fabia, Ibiza, etc), the driveshafts for the 1.4 TDI and 1.9 TDI have the same part numbers in ETKA. In theory, it's a direct swap. Stock gearbox is 02J variant.
Yes, but still with stock injectors...don't think there's fuelling for much more than ~120 / 125hp. Bottom end should be improved. Probably top end too...stock turbo runs out of puff at 3.5k :(
Don't want to invest too much into this 13 y/o car, hence thinking of keeping stock injectors... but...
Hi Ruben,
Old AMF 75hp 3 cylinder has 465cc injectors similar to PD115 AJM. Quite a bit smaller than ARL injectors like Bobby said. Only good for say ~165hp with a reasonable injection duration...
The ATL 90hp 3 cylinder in the A2 had larger injectors, similar to some longitudinally mounted...
