Yep.....and are the primary reason the automobiles are so expensive and fail to compete. Bottom line is that there are $60K jobs that should just be $60K or so. I guy sleeping on the job in a Ford plant, pushing a single button to galvanize dip a car frame, failing his drug screen and the union...

On a this reprofiled camshaft, does Frank (or a contracted company) actually re-case harden/re-heat treat the steel lobes and shaft after machining and polishing? :confused: Not doubting Frank's work at all,,,,just curious. Thanks. :)

In addition to what Grove said, gently "lift" the retaining clips on the charge air hoses from the turbocharger outlet and inspect the metal "ears" for pin-sized holes in the metal. You will need to wipe the metal with a rag in order to inspect....just watch to see if any oil seeps out the...

Sell it. It only gets worse from there. Transmission death, constant CV boot replacement, BHW camshaft deterioration, ceramic glow plugs and re-ECU flashing, AC relay replacement, viscous fan bearing death, electric auxillary fan death, bleeding engine mounts, alternator pulley "upgrades"...

I did. There is a whole story as to the reasons why in at least 4 other threads. I won't re-hash here. My current minor repairs now with the turn signal sensor and a cracked windshield are for selling the POS B5.5. Now go crawl back under your Illini rock. :confused:

Bologna! If he's at 146,000 miles on that Passat, the end is near for the $3200 ZF tranny (fluid changes or not). Bad advice. Wise decision delaware doug.
