Simply one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. I traded in my 15 A8L TDI for a new leftover 16 when they came off the stop sale in 2/18. The combination of comfort, power, fuel efficiency cannot be matched by any other vehicle.
Can't tell you about the warm up cycle since it is never cold...
The real question is if I bring my car in for the 35,000 mile service, will this be done automatically? I suspect not since the letter states they require written approval by the owner to perform the AEM-C.
Sell it back and buy a newer low mile 3.0 TDI. Lots of them available for great prices.
I didn't notice any significant power difference before and after repair. 1-2 lower mpg. Adblue tank still lasted > 9000 miles.
Sad thing is that virtually all of us on this forum realize how great these vehicle were, are, and will continue to be for many more years, and that they will never reach our shores again.
And why are you not seeking to double dip with the insurance money too? You feel they aren't on the hook despite all the money you pay them to insure you?
I'd get them to reimburse you what the repair would cost and then sell it back to VW, and not loose sleep over it. This is not insurance fraud.
Just got car back from the 5000 mile service (performed at 6000 miles). 2.6 gallon of Adblue (DEF) consumption in 6000 miles. Car comes with a 6.2 gallon tank according to service tech.
Not bad, but this is a 2016 A8L which is supposed to have decreased DEF consumption after the emission...
I filed for a sales tax refund in FL. FL allows for a refund on sales tax if the car is bought back by the manufacturer under the lemon law. I tried arguing that this should be similar to that, but I was denied. I appealed and was granted an informal conference by phone. After pleading my case...
Shop around if you really want a 3.0 TDI. I was able to get 30% off. The longer they sit, the better the discount should get. If you really love your A3, I'd recommend a used 2015 S3. The car gets pretty good mileage and is a hoot to drive.
Bottom line is you got a great "new" car at a good price. Having owned 2 C7 platform cars, I would have recommended the A8L over the A7 but the A7 is clearly more sporty looking. Having driven a 3.0 liter TDI car for over 25,000 miles now, I can truly say it is a great powerplant and gets great...
