When your brake warning light comes on, and since you're not using a pressure bleeder and battery charger is connected. I think your fluid level gets too low in the reservoir, VCDS sees that and stops the ABS bleed operation.
I tried disconnecting the "key-sense" wire for the new head unit I installed and I was still having the same issue. I ordered a new cruise control stalk from idparts and that restored my cruise! Really bad time for that switch to bite the dust.
For anyone with a similar issue in the future...
You can easily get the radio code, call a dealer with the radio's serial number and VIN and they can look it up for you. Some dealer's might say there's a charge for that, if so just call another dealer and try again.
Some details, 2000 Jetta with a 5spd swap about 2 years ago. After the swap I had issues with cruise but found my error in the clutch switch wiring. Cruise control had been working ever since.
Last weekend, I installed an alpine double DIN head unit. I removed the connector in the steering...
There are only 3 terminals used for relay 109. Looks correct to me.
Does the glowplug light on the cluster light up when you key on? If not the relay is likely bust. It's not uncommon for these to fail (micro cracks in the solder joints)
This is the correct repair wire for anyone stumbling on this thread in the future. There's also a great thread by graeme86 on terminal ends and alternatives http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=245319
It would have been the probe that came with the newsouth egt gauge kit, so the short one. I don't how much shorter it is. I didn't even think about their longer one. I love the newsouth gauges and how they color match but the gauge not coming alive until 600 degrees is a bit of a stretch IMO...
I started with an EGT probe in the the EGR plate. When I switched from the VNT15 to the VNT17 I drilled and tapped the manifold properly. The EGTs would barely register on the pyro(Newsouth Performance) with the 15. With it in the correct place I feel it's significantly more accurate than...
I just did my first timing belt change on the car. I'm your average do-it-yourselfer and the biggest car project I've done on the tdi was the auto to 5-speed swap.
Provided you have all the necessary tools including VCDS I would imagine a weekend. It took me around 10-11 hours over a weekend...
That's what I've done, just give the bushings in the a/c compressor a smack with a small dead blow. The compressor is a lot easier to bolt back in place after that.
Looks like some sort of silastic to secure the pins in place after soldering for vibraiton an shock.
How are the tunes switched? I see in the video you're putting 12 volts to somewhere? Any instructions for install or a diagram for wiring? I'm sure you have interested folks here, and the...
