Hubby took it all apart again and moved/slightly bent a few things in the handle and now the door opens when I use the handle. His next task will be doing the same thing to the passenger side, since it's doing about the same thing.

Didn't realize that white plastic was adjustable. Just knew the actuator box is. Two diff door handles haven't done anything, so am leaning to the actuator. Have to push to pop the door open from the inside, too.

UPDATE: It was all the outer d/s door handle. He pulled it out, did a couple things (didn't say what), put it back in and now everything works just fine. Chalk up another one for the gremlins that run amok in the B4V's.

So why would all the switches for both the rear windows stop? Neither back window responds to the d/s door handle switches, the dash switches, either front door key (driver or passenger) or the switch on the respective rear door handles. From what I understand, all the windows are on one...

New replacement aftermarket handle. The windows are completely dead. No switch anywhere does anything -- dash or either back door handle.

My B4V's have been my DD's for close to 15 years -- PaTuDI for 10, now Flash for almost 4. Just the right size, comfortable, reliable, good fuel economy. Can't beat 'em! Maintenance is the key, just like for any other car.

Sounds exactly like our 2000 when it was a tooth off. It only takes one tooth to completely mess the timing range up. Start over with the correct lock down tools, no mark & pray.

Cascade German is also a top notch source.

Bought the Jetta for hubby when we thought he was going to have a 35mi commute one way. That job fell through after a few months, but the Jetta's still his daily driver and what we use for road trips. Drove it round trip San Jose-Morro Bay, a/c on, in winds, and got 52.6mpg. Can't beat that!
