Just to give you an idea of the type of people who visit this forum. Before I joined this forum and bought a 97 jetta TDi, I knew nothing about cars and was somewhat afried of them., Now, all the thanks to this forum, I am confident at changing oil, brakes, fuel filter and so on and have enough...

I believe a person could buy some General Altimax HP tires for 400-500ish with the proper load rating. E.g. 205/55/16 . I researched before I bought tires for my NB 3 years ago and it has paid off. 2 tires have 60k miles and still have 6mm of tread left. Tires were rated at 55k miles...

Just some more information. As of today, the front tires of 6mm and the rears tires have 8mm of tread left on them. I had them measured by a tire place.

Yesterday the car got new front brakes, valve cover assembly, and front strut mounts. All ready to go!

Your right oil hammer. At stock height the oil pan is inches from the ground and scared the heck out of me with my ex-wife driving. Rather than buying a new plastic pan or an aftermarket pan, I chose to lift it 2" when I put the Koni STRET shocks and struts on.

Your right....what happened to free market economy? Let the people decide what they want. The EPA has don some things right, but they have over stepped in many areas. One being the pipeline from Canada to Texas.....as well, after the Cuyahoga River caught on fire, something had to be done.

What is there not to like? A small pocket rocket with a turbo charged engine....doesn't this sound like the GTI recipe? I would like to see a 2-door GTI and the 500 Abarth comparison.

If I was going to buy a small/mid size American car, it would be a Dart SRT4 or a Focus ST...only those two would get me away from buying a GTI, Golf R, Audi TT/A3, or R32. IMO. I would say that the Dart, GTI, Audi A3, and Focus ST are all in the same market.
