Dkuster, I am surprised that his prices were high, he replaced the turbo along with brand new hoses, intake cleaning and oil change in my car for $1200, I know dealers would charge double the amount.

I heard the opposite. Garrett turbos are more reliable than the KKK. My KKK turbo blew up at 88,000 miles (all stock) and my mechanic has heard many more of these that ended up the same way.

MAF problems don't throw any codes , I know since it happened to my car. You can a free MAF from the dealer for a TDI below 70,000 miles. I would add some dielectric grease (Versachem) around the connections. Works wonders.
