FWIW to you,
i sprayed plenty ptfe lube into the cables after putting new ones in through were you hook them onto the lever inside the car, before you hook em up, and then they will be extra extra smooth.
i have the later genuine latch with the metal lever microswitch. Door ajar sounds and open working.
so door started not to open all of a sudden until i wacked it a couple times on outer handle.
looked at previous lock had on there and u can juss see a lever that has to engage for handles to open...
ok is there a fix for the cover that goes back and forth, mine keeps gathering up stopping the shiftter going back and forth on random occasions,

hmm, take the pulley off and open it up, not hard, ive opened genuine vw one sum time back and thinking i dont see how it would seize, brake up yes but not seize.

yeah removed the outer cover the one held with 2 screws and the tape on indicator cover had come away, thinkin to drill hole in outer cover and put a rod of some type through which will sit against battery cover and indicator bulb cover to make it a tight fit, so seals up like it would if clip...
