Bummed - 2000 NB wrecked today!

get out while you can man! Buy a corolla! They get about 60 mpg. Thats better than my old beetle got!! I got 56 at the best. (can mpg) Not meaning to turn down the tdi's. I loved mine. But I drive a mazda 6 now. My maintenance schedule looks like this. engine oil and filter - 12,000km...

faint turbo but great pick up

Bingo! mass air flow will usually not cause limp mode. It will just decrease your performance. Limp mode is usually always caused by an overboost situation, and will have to do with the vnt acuator or n75 valve. btw, relay 109, although good that you replaced it, will never cause an engine...

I have a confession to make...

I had an 84 rabbit gti years back, and had it to the shop to get a wheel bearing replaced. Next day after driving about 400 km, noticed I had a real bad shimmy at slower speeds. 2 of the lug bolts were gone, the other 2 were loose. Always check your wheels after the shop has your car.

    Generate power from engine heat.

The electric motor at each wheel like a train is something I would love to see applied to heavy trucks. Here we are shifting through 18 speeds unsynchronized gears, when we could be just.... accelerating??? You could even have electric motors on your trailer too!!! 4 driven axles!!!!

    Trucker Shutdown '08

I agree with you to some extent, but I also believe there is possibly more to this story??? Maybe aggravated attempted murder? As a truck driver myself, one of the biggest problems we face is the rest of the traffic on the road, who will not pass, move, let you in, who decide they don't want to...

I want this so bad I could cry...

On my drive from Estevan SK to Red Deer AB, I got 58 imp. mpg, (48 US mpg). This was at 110 kph, cruise controll set. The average my 98 beetle would get in real world every day driving, with regular blasts above 140kph here and here was 45 imp. mpg. If all you can average is 39mpg, you need to...

    common rail upgrade?

This is a conversion table from whatever you want, to whatever you want. And yes, pressure is not something to mess around with. I work with pressure every day, running a pump truck for an oilfield company. We use metric pressure, and often pump at 30-40 mpa, sometimes at rates up to 300L/min...

I want this so bad I could cry...

I'm with you. I hate the door handles. They should all be the same. Reminds me of a 4 runner. Actually, the entire car is ugly now. Not a move I would expect from honda. Like it held in a fart.

Foot slipped off the clutch pedal !!

From the symptoms you said, it sounds to me like your clutch wasn't disengaging all the way. I would have thought sombody thought of that along the troubleshooting path..... Transmission fluid making it hard to shift into reverse when your not even moving????? I don't think so.... Clutch not...

    Generate power from engine heat.

This is a very crude drawing, and is just a simple idea I came up with. Its a closed system somewhat like an air conditioner system. An engine has a pressurized cooling system, and has the capability of heating water above the boiling point of 100 celcius, thereby having the ability of...

    Hydrogen deisel

it means that if you put this on as a hoax you will very soon not be a member. Two molecules of Hydrogen and one of Oxygen creates the perfect combustible for a better combustion of your fuel. And THAT makes it sound like a hoax. Not to mention the fact that you joined today.

    Toyota Prius in the movies.

For all those of you who have watched Good Luck Chuck and managed to put up Dane Cook's lackluster acting (save the monotone for the comedy buddy), the incredibly corny storyline and all the needless brutally done sex scenes. To see booster cables hooked up to Jessica Alba's Prius made me lose...

    Wife's accusation on chipping...

Whoever taught your wife to drive, father, or you, must have told her to shift at a particular rpm. like 3000, or 3500. So, unless the tach hits that rpm, she doesn't see a need to shift. I prefer to explain to people to shift when they feel the engine is reving unnessesarily high, which you...

Dog question - turbo whine ?

The turbo speed is never consistent, the sound will vary on load and tempurature will even change it. It's a normal sound. BTW, Did you say "blow off valve???????"

TDI skips and burns up mass air flow

Sounds like a turbocharging issue. Check all your intercooler plumbing. Then get a boost guage. If its maf, you won't smoke.

    Wife took my TDI

Typical woman...... haha, my x was the same way. Bought a tdi, she always wanted to drive it, until I bought myself a truck, then all of a sudden the beetle was a clown car, and the truck was hers.... Whats mine is hers, whats hers is hers. Even if you buy an identical tdi, whicever one is...

    Squeeking/chirping at certain RPMs

Many owners with rocketchip and an updated clutch also hear churping noises as they go through the gears.:D but thats obviously not your case..... Probably a bad suspension bushing somewhere.
