Does not sound like a bad battery. If it was it would atleast click or dim the lights or something when you engage the starter. Did you try "pumping" the clutch a few times and then trying it. I had an old isuzu that I had to do that with when it was cold to get the safety to click. Good luck...
Not sure if what you did is bad but I'm fairly certain paying 2.05 for crappy mobil diesel this morning in Ct is not good for my overall health and well being.
I've had my 01 Jetta 2 years now and haven't had any problems to speak of. I own several diesel trucks and just like diesels so when it came time to buy a car I figured why not. The engine has been perfect and I belive its the wise choice if your gonna run this thing till it drops. My advice...
I'd have to agree that on the priority scale the trans fluid isn't high, although I guess if you have some time on your hands its not going to hurt anything. I've never changed the trans fluid on any of my VW's ever. Maybe I'm just lucky but I've put close to 200k on a few of them and the trans...
Had a similar problem but it only occured under load. Ended up being an inner CV. Never had a problem with my Dealer in N. Milford they are VERY small and way out of the way so they have to compensate somehow. Good Luck
Joe,
I purchased my TDI along with my other VW at New Milford. I've always had them do my services for atleast 10 years now. They are the ones that got me interested in the TDI and told me to check out this site for info. They have always stood behind their work with me even when I've had a...
I drive commercial trucks at work everyday(landscape construction) I beat the heck out of them and I don't stop when I get in my TDI. I don't treat it nice at all. I talk nice to it and I think it likes me. But I by no means take it easy on it and I expect it to perform without any problems all...
Hi,
I owned a 2.0 gas powered Golf before buying my 01 Jetta Tdi. I liked the golf a-lot but the motor was just not up to par. I am very surprised that you found the TDI engine noisy compared to your beetle. I notice that the gas engine idled a little smoother which is understandable but at...
Re: Vibrations may the dealer\'s fault!!!!!!!
This doesn't sound like a problem caused by overfilling the oil. I am not a mechanic but work around enough equipment to have good sense about it. The engine is running rough?? If the oil was overfilled at one point and damaged something what would...
Funny thing about wheel bearings....
F.A.G. Bearing corp. has its U.S headquarters in my town. They own like half the worlds bearing manufacturing plants. Make them for the space shuttle and Boeing so I am told. I talked with a guy over quite a few beers one night. He was an old timer in the...
Hi,
I am not sure what the market is for TDI's in Wyoming but its seems as if most places are selling the diesel at the sticker price or maybe just a bit below. Instead of saving a few hundred dollars by going out of your way, I would go with the dealership that makes you feel the most...
I guess stranger things have happened but.... I do not discount anything anyone has said but..... in the original post you said that the straight #1 diesel you put in your car gelled up at 10 degrees F. If the #1 fuel you put in your car gelled at this temp. look no further, its your fuel, not...
Eddy,
I've also heard of dealers switching pumps and therefor switching tanks. I had this happen about 5 years ago at a station in Ct. I could tell the diesel had been dyed so I immediately told an employee. They said save your receipt incase of a problem. I guess its not illegal to have the...
I think your better off with an additive designed specifically for diesel fuel. The higher quality 2 stroke oils are fine I'm sure. The marine 2 stroke oil is far from ashless. I've used it in my air cooled 2 strokes and it does not provide the same performance, much more smoke and ash. I would...
The only station I've found selling better fuel is amoco off exit 10 of I84 in Newtown, Ct. They have the premier brand and it sells. They just have one pump off to the side and it always has a line at it. I usually go late at night so I can avoid a wait. This fuel is so much better than...
Springs,
I will get that info for you. Hopefully I am not mistaken but I was pretty sure sony offered two models that were plug and play. I'll get back to ya.
