Mazot - thanks for the advice. I'm weighing my options, and heard that Turkish drivers are a little out of control relative to most American drivers. I'm an east coast city driver and figured I was pretty tuned in to most agressive driving tactics.
Last summer I was in Shanghai, and that was...
I've heard lots of "driving a Euro TDI" stories. I want to live this reality when I go to Turkey in a couple of weeks. Anyone know how to find a TDI (or another diesel car) that can be rented in Istanbul. I'm also interested to know how easy it is to rent one elsewhere in Europe, as I plan to...
I'm pretty uninspired by the current crop of small pickup trucks on the market. Mileage sucks for the size of the vehicle and engineering doesn't impress. I would really be interested in a VW pickup. That rabbit pickup of times gone by was a nice little creature, but I would like something...
I asked the guy about the GlobalOne sticker on the puymp that's closest to the street. He said that the fuel was from Irving, and that sticker is old. This is just heresay, so I may ask one of the guys inside on my next visit. I'll post any other information if I get it.
The Attendant at Burke Oil's filling station in Chelsea told me that their diesel is Irving. Anyone else in the Boston-area contingent know anything about this? I've been using Dieselect, but Irving has a good reputation that might be worth the switch.
Yeah, Yeah...all you biodiesel guys...

THis is a Fischer-Tropsch fuel, but they have improved upon the process (or so they say). Efficiency in the conversion of natural gas to liquid fuel is a Chemical engineering and inorganic chemistry issue...
They also told me that the back seats in the wagon are different from those in the sedan. Anyone know anything about this since it also makes it far more difficult to go through ebay. There are leather seats available on ebay, but most are from sedans.
I was told by Katzkin that leather seats for the 2003 wagon are not yet available. Leatherseats.com (866-newseat) is the same story. Anyone know of an alternative source
B20 was $1.94 April 7 at Burke.
If there is really a planned B100 delivery then please post the going rate for a drum. I called two weeks ago and the price was pretty high although I don't recall the exact figure. I would like a couple barrels of the good stuff, but it seems like the price...
Curious about the Sodium Azide process that you alluded to. What's the scoop with that...Azides are explosive and probably not nice to the innards of an engine, so I wonder what that's all about.
I wonder if all these biotechnology-style solutions are really the best way to go. To immobilize...
The small molecules that they use for these basestocks are generally petroleum-based as well. All the synthetic materials that we use come from this kind of petroleum derived precursors. ie: plastics, drugs, polarfleece, etc.
We're not just fighting for oil as a fuel. It's a war for so much more.
Running on B20 during the winter seems like a good choice. I have this drum of B100 in my garage that's five months old and barely half empty, so I feel like it's a good idea to keep using it if possible. I would hate to have something so pricey end up going bad.
I'll try that home depot...
