Largest turbo that won't require a tune?

"people get all stressed out thinking one step up a gt18 turbine is some huge deal with lag, but it really isn't. above that i can't really comment, but i suspect it's not as bad as many have experienced" Hey!!!! I resemble that comment  😂

Largest turbo that won't require a tune?

shoebear, I am looking at the same 1856 that you are ;) Unless I get another VNT15 it seems getting any other turbo + a tune is the way to go.

Largest turbo that won't require a tune?

Thanks guys (y) I was hoping a 1752 or even a 1756 would work but I guess that is asking too much.

Largest turbo that won't require a tune?

I need to replace the turbo on my 2002 Jetta 5spd. Other than a stage 1 tune from Mikrotuning the car is stock. What is the largest turbo that I can use that won't require an immediate tune and won't go into limp mode or give me other problems? I realize I won't gain any performance until I get...

    Inner CV Joint Rebuild/Replacement Procedure

The lack of a garage is an issue because we are already seeing temps below freezing............I need to move to Texas ;) I did buy a band crimper.

    Inner CV Joint Rebuild/Replacement Procedure

jokila, thank you for the clarification. I bought a boot kit and it is my plan to rebuild the OEM axle but I don't have access to a garage and need to have the car ready for a trip. Hopefully the replacement axle holds in there. When I removed the OEM axle I wasn't careful enough (first time...

    Inner CV Joint Rebuild/Replacement Procedure

Finally got around to doing this. I was able to remove the OEM driver's side CV axle but just removing the axle nut and the 6 bolts that hold the inner end to the trani. My replacement axle has some kind of ?balancer? on it and required the removal of the sway bar linkage to get it installed...

    Inner CV Joint Rebuild/Replacement Procedure

To keep the axle from moving, couldn't you just break the axle nut free while the wheel is on the ground?

    Inner CV Joint Rebuild/Replacement Procedure

OK, so put the screw driver in from the bottom of the brake rotor so that when the rotor rotates counter-clockwise the screw driver will butt up against the caliper. Do I have it right?

    Inner CV Joint Rebuild/Replacement Procedure

jokila, I can't picture what you are talking about regarding the screw driver through the rotor disc. Could you please explain it another way or do you have a pic by chance?

    Inner CV Joint Rebuild/Replacement Procedure

Need to replace the left inner CV boot on my 2002 Jetta. Can anyone confirm that I don't need to disconnect the A arm or ball joint (as mentioned in post #19 of this thread)? Trying to avoid the requirement to have the front end aligned after the repair.

Cloud of smoke if started facing downhill

Pretty sure it is fuel, white not blue. Haven't tried the eye test as I am normally the one starting the car. Will see how it affects my wife's eyes :p

Cloud of smoke if started facing downhill

Not following you. How could fuel draining back into the fuel tank cause this?

Cloud of smoke if started facing downhill

Yes, original injectors with 325,000 kms on them. Ran a bottle of Diesel Purge through it ~2 years ago, could certainly do it again. It is a very small incline that it is normally parked on. Could gravity be causing that much of a difference with a leaky injector? I would have thought that if...

Cloud of smoke if started facing downhill

After sitting overnight (regardless of outside temp) my 02 will give off a cloud of white smoke at startup if parked with the nose pointing slightly downhill. If I back down my driveway and have the nose pointing slightly up I only get a slight puff. If parked on a level surface the amount of...

Can something else cause MAF fault codes?

So after 2 years the problem has been solved! It was the ECU. Thank you to everyone who took the time to answer my many questions and offer suggestions along the way. ECU problems are suppose to be rare but clearly they do happen :)
