    2006 Jetta TDI 5-spd pk2 Garrett PD140 RC1

Camshaft and lifters were released with VW OEM parts by Jason TDI Guru. I think the rust appearing is typical of these cars, I need to move this one along otherwise I’d take VW up on it. BRM engine will outlast the body lol! A/C is ice cold, summer is here.

Cracked fuel tank / filler neck argh!

No, I'm sure there is a leak in the neck - somewhere. Even since I owned the car I filled it completely to the brim, no spillage, and never had fuel leaking in the driveway even when parking it right after a complete fill up. At the point I made this post something happened, where I would top...

Cracked fuel tank / filler neck argh!

Wow, just checked in to read up on the emissions cheat code fiasco and saw this thread up top. Follow-up is that I never did anything to fix it except I no longer top off completely. I fill to the first pump shut off and go on my way. No leaked fuel at all if I fill like this, and range is not...

Chris Farnham (3193) passes away, 3/8/15

Wow, I've been busy elsewhere for the past year or so and just saw this today. Sad news, Chris was a great guy to deal with and he will be missed. I live in NY so back in 2006 when I got my TDI from him he went above and beyond to make it a happen. I remember at the time he talked fondly about...

October deals offered by VW of Langhorne

Hi Chris, hope all is going good for you. October deals look great, same deals for November?t Wondering if you have any examples of '14 Beetle Convertible TDI automatics, maybe some coming in soon? Also interested in Passat SEL TDI automatics, but I can see some of those on the Langhorne...

Cracked fuel tank / filler neck argh!

Filled up the tank to the very top on the filler neck (as always) then noticed that I had diesel leaking from under the car in the area of the filler neck. Took it to the local dealer to get in on a lift and they say the leak is where the filler neck meets the tank. They say the tank & filler...

New York State TDI inspection confusion

interesting to hear the rules have changed, I dont know exactly what the procedure is, it's not detaield on the DMV website. I guess the DMV can change the rules but I'd expect it to apply to say 2012 and newer vehicles then, but that does not seem tot be the case.

New York State TDI inspection confusion

Just got my 06 Jetta TDI inspected at a private repair shop, I was told that when hooked up to the emissions machine it registered as a gas vehicle and the charge was $36, they showed me on the test form. I told them I always had the $10 safety inspection since I've owned it - basically a safety...

    oem battery life

2006 Jetta BRM build date 12/05 just replaced battery at 180,000 miles, so it got me 6yrs, 10 months of service! OEM battery had just started to show signs of slow cranking on the few cold mornings we've had, so I replaced it with another OE battery ($120) instead of using it too the very end...

"Diesel Fuel Only" Sticker Recall (20R9)

I think this is a good idea. When I got my 06 there were hardly any TDIs on the road, now I see tons of them and I'm sure that all these late adopters are not fanatics like everyone here. This might help, but I agree the locking green diesel fuel cap is more idiot proof.

    front caliper carrier bolts

I've re-used these TTY bolts for 2 or 3 rotor changes now - always forget to order them. None of the dealerships in my area had them in stock when I had the car apart on Saturday - hard to believe since I'd think it's common part - unless dealer service depts really don't change these out on...
