It's funny, I was planning on a 300C Hemi. My financial situation changed, fuel is cheap and I thought what the heck. But someone totalled my Jetta, forced the issue and I couldn't find a 300 in the colour combo I wanted. By chance I also stopped into my VW dealer, and after thinking about...
Yes ICBC provides my coverage. For our American friends, British Columbia has a Crown Corporation (gov't owned) that handles all car insurance (aside from a few choices on extra coverage. I've always found them great to deal with, but they do settle quickly, as they're handling both parties...
Just throwing this question out there in case anyone's dealt with it or is in insurance:
My 2011 Jetta TDI was in an accident last week, opposing driver made a left turn right in front of me and vehicle sustained over $15k damage. I'm wondering if there's any chance the insurer will take...
I know they're not everyone's favourite group, but I was wondering if anyone has observed or heard how VW dealerships are faring since the emissions scandal broke? Are they ghost towns?
A buyback would be the smart option, but everything I read of the insular arrogance of VW corporate culture makes me feel they would never admit that kind of defeat. Instead they'll attempt to retrofit all the models no matter what the cost.
So I just read an article that that claimed our Jettas are putting out as much NOx emissions as a modern 18 wheeler! Is that true?

Just out of curiosity, were there any customers kicking tires in the dealership? I'd have to imagine their sales of all vehicles are cratering right now.
Anybody else have their fuel guage fail? Mine shows correct reading when starting and the first few minutes of driving, and then the digital bars slowly disappear. $400 to repair!!
Now that my Jetta's coming up on 4 years old I replaced the Contipros with Pirelli P7 Cinturato All Season Plus tires. What a difference! Quieter, better riding and handling. Mileage has been down a bit but that might just be because the installation coincided with the arrival of winter...
I notice that on the left bolster of the drivers seat cushion a crack is developing connecting three of the perforations in teh material. I don't find that acceptable in a three year old car with 70,000 km. It's not like I live in AZ or somewhere the car sits out in baking hot sun. Anyone...
When I went back they said 60,000 km or 4 years (maybe I misheard 70k), whatever came first. However, I guess since last time I had the big servicing at 65k, they must have wanted to spare me sticker shock by lumping the two together.
The Jetta stacks up pretty well against those two then. Admirable when you consider it was designed to compete with the Corolla and Civic, not the more upmarket vehicles you compare it to.
The real kicker in that article is "..America, the world's second largest car market after China.." It's no longer necessary to be top dog in the USA. VW does very well in China thank you very much. If they keep refreshing the US product and add a crossover they'll do just fine. No need to...
