901 was right but. not bad was having cold start trouble with other 1999 car swapping relay out thinking i [rush] put back in right socket put 180 in blank 190 in 180 & nothing in true 190 spot' went back to other car saw colored sockets matched them to the right colored socket. put key...
no luck yet car made 1/99. replace all relay from running car no luck. no glow light on turn key on. car sat 3 years broken rod/ was ok before that. fully charged bat. looking for things too check.
car was sitting for awhile with blown motor finally got time to work on it. went to use vag com .I get no response from controller. what am I missing? I tried on 2 car worked fine.

1999.5 alh yes to all the above replaced belt set timing was running go then started to smoke real bad. went back to check timing only read 38 played with driving reset with out vad com runs good with full power.[ i redid it 3 times with no change on vad com]
i know to loosen 3 bolts & turn with 22mm wrench.[ I did have it set at middle line before] I did that both ways with no change on vad com. I don't know could it think limp mode safe setting , but with full power. what would factory limp mode timing be?
1.9 alh had timing set. worked ok. then went to check it a week later to fine tune. with graft it stays at 38 no matter which way i turn pump. I even put a different pump on re set it all up. vad com set reads 38. I put old pump back on no change. could something in computer be going bad...
trying to set timing on tdi. It was working fine now when i go to check timing it stays at 38 never moves no matter which way i set the pump. what could be wrong? anyone near slatington pa just to compare readings
i tired setting it, got it finally set. a week later it shifted . tired to readjust now no matter which way i turn it just shows 38 with no change advance or retard it. I checked all setting all on the mark . could computer be going bad?
need to redo engine. stock rod did not like hp up grades. 17/22 turbo/big inter cooler/3"exhaust/heavy clutch/rocket chip stage 4/map 3/11 mm pump/5 speed/forgot nozzle size pp???/intake pipe & pd intake with delete & race pipe/was getting around 28 on the boost/that about I can think of now...
I had looked at fuse 32/34/43 all looked good. i had a prolbem with fuse that looked good before thinking back. I went an replace them. Jump back in car to try starting it, then it happen, it started right away.Bad or weak fuse just waiting for the right time to fail.
ac pump sezed , thinking belt jump a tooth or more[over due for belt] due to very hard cranking. put new belt & parts in , found that the ac pump was locked up & made for hard to start! So went about changing belt [not new at putting tb in & never had this happen before] check timing 3 times/...
I want to up grade alh from stock with 11mm pump now 100000 mile to drop into a 2 door gulf stick car.Have a pd intake with race pipe. going with 17/22 turbo,the rest is in the air witch way to go. stage one or 2 clutch ? , also want fmic eurojet street or race or other ? bigger down pipe 2 1/2...
