Anyone near La Jolla with a vagcom??? Road trip and now Flashing glow plug light
I'm hoping someone near La Jolla, CA has a VagCom and can read the codes on my '12 Passat. We are on holiday and while driving into town today the Glow Plug light started flashing and the CEL came on. It either...
Well it's time for me to get the timing belt changed on my '12 Passat TDI and I still have the VW white card to use at the dealer. I'm just wondering whether buying these parts from my local dealer is the best option for using my c dieselgate card? I can get a timing belt kit from ID Parts for...
Here is my most recent Blackstone report at around 118k miles for my 2012 Passat TDi. I have been using the Pennzoil Ultra Euro L for about the last 4-5 oil changes and all have been roughly 10k OCI. The previous oil change shown at about 50k was using Liqui-Moly Top Tec 4200.
They recommend...
Well here is an updated UOA on my 2012 Passat TDi which is just over 118k miles. It seems Blackstone has finally updated their "averages" for our engines in terms of aluminum, but I'm not sure exactly how accurate this is. I've been using the recommended 10k mile intervals in between the...
Both my samples were taken as an extraction from the dipstick tube. I have the 6MT in my car. I may wait and take a sample at 7.5K and then again at 10K on the oil in the car. Given that many people are seeing high readings of Al it can at least give me an idea about whether my levels will...
I was hoping other results were possibly showing higher levels. I'm already out of warranty as I'm currently at 68.5K miles. I currently have 5K on the Luiqi moly so I wonder if I should just pull a sample and then again at 7.5K and then again at 10K interval as is recommended? Or should I...
Thanks, I've already posted over there as well. Some of them suggested I make sure and post in a TDI forum to see if others experienced the same thing or what other oils people are running in case the Liquimoly just doesn't seem to be a good fit.
I could see the possibility of a mistake being done on one or the other, but both of these reports were on the same oil but taken at different intervals (5k & 7.5K) and roughly a month apart. Just to clarify, the samples were NOT submitted at the same time.
Okay I posted my results in the "fuels & lubricants" but I am at 5K on the current oil in the car and thinking I'm going to change it and sent out for another analysis (I'm currently at 68.5K miles). I read drivebywires post regarding the waste of changing oil in our TDI's early and so all my...
Ok so I did a couple of Oil Analysis on my '12 Passat TDI with mid 40k mileage. I pulled a sample at roughly 5k and then again on the same oil at 7.5K. The lab seems to be concerned about the high level of aluminum at 5K and even more concerned that it increased again at 7.5K. I'm new to...
Yeah, I don't follow that "Lifetime" fluid garbage! We also have an older Audi A6 4.2 which had a "Lifetime" fluid in the garbage TIP. It's been recently replaced with an 01E manual 6MT which has given more "life" to the car, but was an expense I would have gladly avoided if the previous owner...
I'm getting close to my 60K maintenance and I looked at the service book in my car trying to figure out when the manual trans fluid replacement is required. I don't see anything regarding the 6MT fluid, only for the DSG. Does anyone know when the fluid replacement interval is for the manual...
Well over the weekend I thought I was going to be another victim of the turbo failures. I had the same problem of pulling out on the road and noticed a loss of power, with a sound of air blowing, like an exhaust leak. On the dash I had the blinking glow plug light and solid check engine light...
I'm really happy with my Opera Red TDI 6-speed manual. At first when I saw the pictures when it got delivered to Langhorne I wasn't sure I made the right choice, but once I saw it in person it was much better!:)
Not when you consider I drive more than 600 miles a week, and am only getting about 18mpg with my other two vehicles. So getting it sooner and hopefully getting close to 48-50mpg with the passat will make up for it. :D
Not only that, but i can consider it a late xmas present to myself!
Yep the Opera Red TDI manual was difinately the requirement, and finding a manual anywhere was looking pretty bleak, so getting exactly what I wanted at $1000+ under MSRP, gave me the option of ordering through Chris and having it shipped back across the US while still only forking out close to...
