I just had my 100k maintenance work done and it was a pretty penny. I was able to use my goodwill package to cut the cost in half. The dealer (Volkswagen of Beaumont, TX) was really nice about it, although the guy who activated the cards seemed a little uninterested. The service bay was as nice...

So, I have been doing a bit of reading on blogs and news sites about this issue. I feel duped in a lot of ways. I bought this car in because I was doing a long commute daily from north Houston to Huntsville (about 100 miles RT). During my 3+ years of ownership the car has run remarkably...
Last year when we had extremely cold weather here in Houston I ran into problems. I am not sure it was associated with adblue, but they had to replace some things associated with it. It was an expensive job (luckily it was under warranty) and it left a weird taste in my mouth because it wasn't...
I love podcasts and the fact that I can listen to a wide range of things commercial-free. Or mostly commercial-free. Commercials and paid support placements have been slowly creeping into my podcasts. Ungh.
My Passat came with Hankooks. I changed them out for Continental Contact Pros. I had road damage on one of them and Discount Tire does't stock the Continentals any more, so they replaced it with a Yokohama.
The ONE thing I like about diesel PRICING is that the prices don't tend to fluctuate as widely—at least not here in Houston. I seem to have been paying $3.59-$3.69/gal for the past 2 years.

Podcasting is free...
It's interesting that we're all having this issue. I have a check engine light that came on. Took it to the dealer (Volkswagen of The Woodlands) this morning and it was also diagnosed as a failed heating element (Adblue). I have lately been parking my car outside and the weather had been quite...
I drive a DSG Passat TDI SEL
I'm pretty good about keeping track of my miles per gallon and fuel purchases. These are mine I don't mind sharing

Agreed. I am happy too.
That said, I loved my previous car (Nissan Maxxima), but it had a LOT of problems too. Number 1: the fuel economy was TERRIBLE. I literally couldn't afford to drive it any more. I've had Fords, I've had Mazdas, and even Hondas. THey have their good and bad points, but I...
