My buyback closed on 12/30 and VW hotline said a FedEx tracking number was issued on Jan 11. So my loan should be paid off soon, maybe today but hopefully by Jan 17.
When I turned in my 2013 JSW, I kept the first aid kit. A family member was interested in the nav unit, monster mats, trunk organizer and 17 inch Porto wheels w/ spare tire kit, so I took out what they wanted. They had a 2009 base JSW. We swapped wheels and head unit so the car wouldn't look...
I was able to speak to the ambassador at my local dealership but not the buyback specialist. I called the ambassador to ask if there would be a problem at buyback if radio/nav unit were stripped. He had to confer with the buyback specialist before advising me to swap radio with aftermarket unit...
When I turned in car on 12/30 I asked settlement specialist what will happen to my TDI. She said all cars will be trucked to Michigan for storage. Then if a fix is approved, VW will select those cars that suitable for resale.
I submitted initial claim paperwork on Oct 26. Uploaded notarized docs for the buyback on Nov 26. I got my buyback money on Jan 3. So it's more than 4 weeks to receive the funds.
Initially I expected funds by 1/5 but I received Chase email on 1/2 Monday (that's fast considering the weekend plus holiday) then less than 12 hrs later the funds are now in my account.
I turned in the car on 12/30 6:30pm. I expect the Chase email no later than 1/5 Friday. Then I expect loan payoff by mid January followed 10 days later by the overage. So everything should be settled before Feb.
I own one car also. I bought my replacement car 1 month ahead of the buyback appt. If I had not already bought another car, then my backup plan to was get a car rental for a few days.
I received email from VW stating thhe following:
"You will receive email notification from JP Morgan Chase (donotreplyChasePayments@jpmorgan.com) within 3 business days of the buyback closing."
Since your buyback closed on 12/27, you can expect Chase email by 12/30. So if you don't receive by...
I used a VW head unit from 2009 JSW. Before swapping I called the VW ambassador at the dealer (where I will be turning in the car) whether it would be a problem if the radio is missing. After the ambassador conferred with the settlement specialist, he advised me there would be a "red flag" if...

I have stripped the monster mats, car-go trunk organizer, and first aid kit. I have swapped my touchscreen nav unit for a basic am/fm/cd unit (so there's no gaping hole in the dash). Also, I swapped out my 17in wheels for basic 16in steelies. They won't know that I swapped radio and wheels...
I just checked online portal and it shows step 18, but at same time I also received email confirmation of my chosen appointment date:
"This is to remind you of your scheduled appointment with a Settlement Specialist at Volkswagen Alhambra on 12/30/2016 at 6:30 PM."
So, I believe it's just a...
