    Timing Belt Price?

Wouldn't mind the recommendation. I'm down in Windsor but have no problems taking a trip to London for somebody decent. I've scoured the forums but haven't really seen much in the way of recommendations in this side of Ontario. I already assembled the parts last year with plans of doing it...

    We're even! Gas/Diesel

If it's not a full $1.00 higher, diesel in and around Detroit seems to be awfully close to it on a pretty routine basis. Luckily there is the bridge as an option for those who cross the border (I hate to support the owners, but hard to pass up at the price).

    60 MPG / 900 Mile Club / 1000 Mile Club

No pics, but I just finished up my first try at driving like a ninny for an entire tank. Results: dist: 1620.2km / 1006.7mi fuel: 63.05L / 16.68G eco: 60.35mpg / 3.89L/100km A4 Golf btw (manual, obviously). Basically drove around for 2.5 months @ 50km/h, coasting to stops as much as...

    hypermilling ??? WT#$@#

For me, it worked out to be about 25%. I was figuring it would be about 10% better than normal but just finished up a tank for 60.4mpg (instead of my usual 48). I guess it all depends on how hard you try. It definitely took a lot of patience though.

Canadian supplier for Group 94R battery with 765 CCA?

It's hard to tell how it will compare exactly given that they didn't list a specific Ah rating, but as I said it seems to be targeted for deep-cycle applications so I'm hopeful. There was some kind of reserve capacity figure quoted, and although I don't remember the number it seemed quite good...

Canadian supplier for Group 94R battery with 765 CCA?

Noticed that we had an Interstate dealer in my town (Windsor, ON). Oddly his book suggested both group 47 & 94 for A4's, with a group 47 for my 2001 specifically... no idea why. I ended up going to costco instead. No Group 94 there (or even 48 or 49) but ended up buying a group 27 battery for...

Dealer removes "bumper and heater" to replace glow plug?

Hah, Suuuuuuuure! Not really your problem since it's warantee work, but I guess it's a warning to be careful if you ever pay for work there.

    MAF question for my TDI

No, the evry mod as i recall involved a resistor in the fuel pump wiring and definately didn't help with the mpgs. Forget it, if you want your car to run as well as possible, you're not getting rid of the maf.

    Diesel soot removal

All i use is my regular car soap and I can't say I ever have problems getting rid of the soot... I just wipe it off and it's gone. Do you wax your car often? I don't know if that would make a huge difference, but I can't help but think the soot would wash off a lot easier if you keep the rear...

Any Interest in a Personal Gauge Computer ?

That's kind of funny, I actually ordered that exact same one a couple weeks ago! I wanted to see what it looks like in person for the viewing angle i wanted but I still don't have it... had it sent to a friend's place. For the person mentioning the touch screen... there's touch-screen...

Any Interest in a Personal Gauge Computer ?

There's only one port, the OBD-2 port... By getting it from the ECU, I am guessing Gary is taking about doing something to the ECU itself internally or tapping into the sensors where they come into the ECU? You can communicate to other modules than the ECU through the OBD-2 port, but I can't...

Any Interest in a Personal Gauge Computer ?

Hmmm... I was looking into this before but didn't see any info on it, and I kind of wonder if this is what I am seeing. I have a '01 Golf and it seems that the ECU stops talking to me whenever I drive above ~2200 rpm or so for more than ~10 seconds. Even 'spirited' driving is fine, but it...

Any Interest in a Personal Gauge Computer ?

Indeed you can There's a lot of stuff you can do, like the fuel economy thing everybody brings up. Hopefully that won't be the case... I've been working on this for a while now and TDILOVE as well now it seems. I don't want to step on his thread but I think either way something will make...

Any Interest in a Personal Gauge Computer ?

Funny that you should post this... I've been working on something very similar for the past few months. My biggest problem right now is where/how to mount it. I wasn't quite going as far as a touchscreen though, i only have a character LCD display.

Can someone ship to Canada for me?

You usually don't want to use UPS to ship to canada. They usually tack on customs charges that will probably be another $15. USPS was always good for me though.

London / SW Ontario GTG -- JUNE 19

Nice meeting everyone today... it was cool seeing about 10 different methods for filtering the ccv! What really gets me though, is that I somehow managed to simultaneously freeze my ass off and get severly sunburnt. Somehow that's just not fair.

    Fuel Consumption Guage

Yeah, I made that. If I can figure out a way to package it nicely I might look to sell them, but in all honesty it's no cheaper than buying a MFA. But like I say, i have to figure out where to put it... Putting it in the cupholder isn't the best solution: Vag-Com can do it... I don't think...

    Fuel Consumption Guage

Well, it is possible to display it on a 3rd party display... though it isn't easy, ask me how I know Ignore that extra stuff on there, I use it for testing. Does the MFA really show oil temperature? I can't do that, but I can show the other temperatures like Coolant, Fuel & Intake. One...

    In-Dash (Cluster) Boost Gauge

ExpressPCB isn't too bad either when you consider it... Their miniboard service (3 small boards - more if you squeeze multiple boards into each one) is probably a lot more than you would spend doing it at home, but it's great for more complex boards because they are two layer boards with via and...

    1106 miles on a tank '03 GLI Wagon 64.5MPG!!!

1106 miles on a tank \'03 GLI Wagon 64.5MPG!!! When I ran mine dry , i filled it up with 16.9 gallons. I do believe I filled it up to the top with the vent trick, but it was a long time ago so I can't be sure. But by no means let me stop you from your own plans to let it run completely dry to...
