Das Autohaus charges $1,038 out the door for parts and labor or $750 for labor only with my own parts. Again, a little surprised given that on their website, they say they provide quality and work of a dealership without the high prices. I guess this is the typical range to get this job done...

I just called W and they charge $980 labor and all OEM parts for the job or $700 for labor to install my own parts. Kind of high considering dealerships charge almost the same. But then again the workmanship is debatable between an indy and dealership. I called Das Autohaus, but no response...

OP, sorry to hear about your pain. Hope you get this up and running quickly. How many miles did you have on your timing belt and who did the job?

Looked at the guru list and there was no one in the Houston area. I have a bew pd and looking for a place or person to do the job next week. Proper tools is a must and reasonable rate is a plus.

Can someone recommend a good place that does a complete timing belt job on a bew pd in Houston? Reasonable rate with proper tools is a must. I'm surprised there wasn't a guru on the list for this area.

Yes off an 04 PD BEW engine. No runway - got lucky there! Like many of you said, ill be inspecting the charge pipes and intercooler for debris. I'll be tearing the turbo apart this weekend to see if I can find any clues on what went wrong.

Well after a month of diagnosing the car, it turns out the worst scenario came out to be true - my turbo is blown. For 125K miles on the original turbo, I thought the turbo prematurely failed. I suppose the bearings was starved of oil, probably due to oil coking up inside the turbo center...

Ok. Found my problem. Anyone know how this happened? Oil deprivation? Kind of concerned if any of the pieces made it into the engine.

I've felt the turbo fins/vanes with my finger yesterday. It seems the axis of the turbo fin or vane is biased towards the bottom, meaning it's not dead center with the diameter of the turbo outlet housing. Is this normal? I do not feel any play and it seems that I cannot spin the vane either.

No, have not checked the codes with VCDS. A local guru was supposed to come out and scan, but he has not returned my communication. A side note, the car is not throwing any lights at the moment. I had the car on ramps a few days ago and had a helper rev engine while I listen from underneath...

anyone else on potential cause of this noise? I am about to place an order for a turbo.
