Hat off to you good sir! I know what I am doing when the warranty is done! I just bought a 335d and our Golf GSW with the tuning box feels like a Prius comparing to that.
Thanks! This was one of those barn finds. The guy also had in there a 1988 Toyota Supra with 8,000 original kms on it, it looked like it just rolled out from the factory floor.
Same in Canada, it expired in 2013 as the car is a 2009
Fella TDI owners, just wanted to share my excitement on another diesel purchase. Well, our MK7 GSW TDI just a got a new mature friend in the garage, the mighty BMW 335d. Its a 2009 but only with 7800 kms, a rare find indeed, it was owned by an older gentleman and parked in a heated garage...
x2 and I am running it in "F"
dropped the car off for for the first oil change today. Took me all of the 15 minutes to remove the module and injector connectors :) Dealer warned me of ECM update. Will report back on how the new software reacts with the module.
I did not notice this and I do hand calculate my tanks. It was 0.5 liter per 100kms discrepancy between MFD readings and the actual tanks before the box and exactly the same discrepancy after the box was installed. I've had the box for 5k+ kms now, so there is plenty of data to prove it.
So...
Have been running the latest version of the module in highest setting "F" for 5k kms now. No issues, no codes. Coming from Malone Stage 2 TDI, the power with the module is definitely there, just not as much as the dedicated tune. Also, Flashzilla is definitely a must, IMHO, if you want the tune...
1. they are cruise gears if the car is empty at sea level, I live at 1200 meters close to the mountains, with most of the time driving with loaded roof box. 5th and 6th become useless for spirited driving, I am sure for most folks its more than sufficient, just not for me. I still prefer the...
Very smooth transmission, easy to drive, wifey says its the best manual we had. My only two gripes with it:
1) super tall 5th and 6th gears
2) clutch engagement does not cancel cruise control
4k kms kiteboarding trip to Oregon coast from Calgary, AB. Switched from 19" BBS to 17" Enkei Fujins with Dunlops Diriezza ZII for the comfy driving and better traction:
I lost about 0.5 liters/100 kms going from 225/45R17 to 235/35R19, but some of it is due to heavier 19" wheels
stock 17" - 44 lbs full weight with tires
19" - 48.5 lbs
Aggressive! There is even a bit of a reverse rake with these springs. According to vwvortex, this can be fixed by installing Audi TT rear spring pads which are 7 mm thicker, should be very easy considering our rear suspension setup.
X2
no difference in MFA readout, I had 0.5 liter discrepancy between readout and actual calculated tanks before the module and the same 0.5 liter or LESS with the module. My 19" wheel setup had more impact on the fuel economy then the module, even though I drive more aggressively with it now...
