Yup. Tried changing reverse bulbs and it's not that. Read it could be a stuck switch/sensor in the engine bay where the linkage moves too. Just haven't had time to dig in.

Let's not forget VW, the EPA, & the lawyers are the bad guys here, not each other.
The 2.0s got $5k - $10k but the 3.0s are worth 2x - 2.5x as much (Golf vs. Touareg and A3 vs A8).
So my guess would be $10k to $25K for compensation.
I would think they have to offer the full buyback or a good portion of the compensation to any current owner, regardless of when they bought the car, as an incentive for them to bring the car in. Otherwise vw will have a hard time hitting the 85% goal. But it's still a $20k + risk. You're not...
I almost jumped on a 2011 Touareg TDI for $21K, NADA Nov 2015 Retail Value about $26K. But $21K is a much bigger risk than $10K for a golf/jetta. There's a chance it wouldn't qualify because of its history or because I didn't own at the right time, etc etc.
I liked the car and wouldn't mind...
If they don't offer buybacks to Gen 2 owners, significant compensation should be given to all of you that owned the car as of Sept or Nov 2015. That should all go to you, not any new owner if you sell your car (I think the 2.0s have to split the compensation with new owners). That will at least...
These timelines just don't make sense. They've been close to a deal since middle of November. Now they need over a month to finalize the agreement??? They already have a template from the 2.0 deal and supposedly agreed on a deal. Then the court needs 2 weeks to review the agreement?
VW has...
More info:
Breyer said the final agreement must be filed with the court by Jan. 31, and he expects to hold a Feb. 14 hearing to approve the deal.
Half of the compensation will be paid at the time Breyer gives final approval of the settlement.
Happy Valentine's Day I guess...
Last question on the FAQ of the settlement page says they will announce the relief on the consumer class action suit on Thursday.
"Volkswagen has also reached agreement with the Court-appointed Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee (PSC) on substantial aspects of the relief that consumer class...
If they don't offer restitution, there's no incentive or urgency for owners to get the fix. They'll miss their 85% fix target and incur massive fines. Over $6 million for each 1% short on gen 1 and $26 million for each 1% of gen 2.
Good find. It does say "Clean retail"
The Base Value for each Eligible Vehicle is, where available (including both Model Year (“MY”) vehicles before 2015 and certain MY 2015 vehicles), the Clean Retail value of the vehicle based on the NADA Vehicle Identification Code (VIC)...
Great.... Now I gotta debate if I should buy another car to replace my 2012 touareg now to avoid totalling it or paying for any more maintenance. 3 months is a long time to basically pay for a $30k car to sit in my driveway. It's even longer and more expensive for all of you with a gen 2...
