How long have you owned your MkVI? Miles driven?

We purchased our 2013 in November 2012 with 10 miles on it. I just clicked over 26k miles and it's been a great car. One of the door lock modules in the rear doors failed around 20k miles, but was quickly fixed by the dealer. She gets a dose of Power Service diesel fuel supplement at each fill...

    Real World- 6MT vs. DSG

Lovin' the 6sp I think about driving a manual everyday because I enjoy driving this car so much. A few of our previous cars were manuals, a few were automatics, but I dropped the idea of the DSG based on price (and much to my husband's dismay). I couldn't stomach paying $1,100 at sale and then...

    Meaning Behind Your Username

Ahhh hell! Yes, yes we do. Jtrujillo86 is my username on VWVortex. Clearly, I was confused as to which forum I was on. Anyway, TDI_for_Me is pretty obvious. I've wanted a TDI for a very long time...about 12 years or so, since I was able to drive. After owning a handful of RUG VW's, I finally...

    2013 JSW 10,000 thread

We just passed 18k on our wagon, with a few minor issues along the way. The cheap rear vent broke once, and the replacement was broken by the dealership the day it was 'fixed'. We're on our third now. Also, about a month ago the passenger side rear door locking module died, rendering the door...

How far are you from nearest VW dealer?

There are at least five that I know of within a 20 mile radius of both work and home. A side note: Obviously the VW dealer network isn't as wide-reaching as Chevrolet or Ford, but did you expect that when you bought your VW? - Jeremy.

    Just topped 100,000 miles yesterday

Love hearing the stories about the 100k+ mile CRs! Makes me feel a lot better after hearing people complain about HPFP and DPF issues. - Jeremy.

    Seat belt light illuminating

The deployment of the airbag is not dependent on seatbelt use, however the force with which it deploys is. The airbags in VWs are multi-stage; that means, when someone is wearing a seatbelt, the airbag deploys with less force and doesn't fully inflate. If someone is not wearing a seatbelt (or...

High elevation, hill climb, high load overheating?

Chad, what ScanGauge do you have? I'd love to get one to monitor exhaust gas temps to know when the car is in regen, etc. Thanks, - Jeremy.

    Am I doing something wrong?(Regen)

I have a very similar commute, and I too noticed that I interrupted the regen cycle twice this week. It's somewhat frustrating, and you can drive yourself crazy thinking about it. The trick is to not and just keep driving :) - Jeremy.

    Goodbye TDI

That's pretty good. What was your driving mix? For city driving, that would be an excellent number, but far from the 47 HWY it was rated at, if in fact you were doing all highway miles. - Jeremy.

    Considering trading my 2011 for a 2013 - thoughts?

I completely agree. I got the manual because it's so much more engaging with the TDI than the DSG. The DSG is nice in the 2.0T gasser, but I much prefer the TDI mated to a manual. I too sit in traffic twice daily - on my to work down I-5 into Seattle and on my way home, and there is no way I'd...

    Goodbye TDI

My post referred to the longevity of the drivetrain - i.e. engine and transmission. Emission control equipment isn't included in "drivertrain". The failure rate of HPFP is less than 3% and I take steps to reduce my chances of seeing a failure. There are multiple owners on this forum that have...
