Check the bolts on the shifting linkage on top of the transmission. There are two bolts that allow for small, yet important, adjustments and perhaps one is loose. If not there is a plastic piece below the shift knob that can wear out and need replacing. Good luck!

It sounds like a fuel delivery issue to me. Does your car have the clear fuel line between the fuel filter and IP? If so, are the bubbles or even any fuel at all? Possibly you have an air leak releasing vacuum and letting fuel return to the tank. A quick thing to try that may help-use a vacuum...
