Agree. VW made a profit from me by defrauding me. But for the fraud, I would not have bought the car. There should be a theory of economic harm somewhere in there.
All valid points although I don't think stock / home ownership are good analogies. It would appear that the VW "restitution" payment is more about apologizing for defrauding its customers rather than making people whole again. The guy who bought my car is essentially getting all his money back...
So the new owner gets a windfall of almost $19K? That quite a return on his investment and doesn't address the fact that I was still defrauded in 2009.
I sold my Golf TDI two weeks prior to the scandal breaking for $14K. I checked the VW website and I get nothing. The guy who bought my TDI gets $13.5K for the car PLUS $5,500 in restitution!
That doesn't seem right. I paid a premium for the car in 2009. Anybody else in this boat?
I had my 40,000 service done on my 2010 Golf TDI done a couple of weeks ago in which they replaced the fuel pump. A couple of days ago, the engine light went on - took it back in and VW is saying it's the Pressure Intake Manifold Sensor (MAP) and needs to be replaced (~$350) and this is...
My warranty is up this Nov. on my 2010 TDI Golf - do I buy an extended warranty? Or will my insurance (USAA) cover any HPFP issues, should they arise.
And if I get an extended warranty - how much are they??
Thanks!
It's true, VW redesigned the interior to cut down on exterior noise. This redesign also allows one to enjoy (even more) all the squeaks, rattles and ticking noises that the interior parts still make...
same issue - car sat unused for 7 days with temps dipping into 30's at night - upon my return - low tire light issue (blinking then on - I know it's an error) along with longer than normal startup in the morning....
The cabin noise is a joke - I've been to the dealer maybe six or seven times but they are unable to fix the various rattles / squeaks / clicking that the doors (or frame?) make.
I'm not sure what else I would have bought, but with the HPFP issue, I would not get this car again - which sucks b/c...
Just got my Golf TDI back from VW - they had it for five days taking care of its 1 year / 3 recalls / some rattle issues etc...
Very happy to have her back - they gave me a Prius loaner which was total crap and completely joyless to drive.
TDI.
I only commute 4 miles each way (6500 miles for the year) but I still see great mileage. Sure the mileage gets even better on the occasional long drive but why not get a car that gets you the best - even for short drives. The TDI is also loads of fun to drive.
