While Midwest Lighting was in business I got his upgraded lights with HIDs in the low beams.
The high beam reflectors accept H1 bulbs. To get more light I put LEDs in the high beams and am careful to
switch off when cars are coming.
The Leds put out a lot of light but you can tell its not...
A follow up ;
Original problem; interior lights came on and stayed on. Would only turn on/ off with overhead switch.
Both front door puddle lights on/off with door.
No faults found with VCDS. All door and lid switches showed working.
All wiring good.
The only two things I did were to remove...
Wanted to post a update to this thread.
Yesterday I checked my wiring in all the visable wire bundles including
the wires in the lift gate. Everything looked fine. The rear lid wires were recently repaired.
I also checked fuses 5,6,14,38.
I have read that pulling fuse 14 for 10 min. or more...
Well today I spent some hours doing more investigation.
Pulled the CCM out and looked at the circuit board for bad solder joints.
It looked really clean with no obvious problems. Will look more closely with
a magnifying glass later.
Looked at the wire bundle in the door flex elbow and as much of...
Have not checked them yet.
Would I be looking at the wires in the rubber door boot
and maybe the ones down by the drivers foot well.
I might pull the CCM tomorrow and open it up.
Will report back what I find.
Thanks
Just began where the interior lights are on and stay on.
They stay on no matter what I try. closing the door, turning on the key, etc.
Only go out with the switch on the center overhead lights.
I changed the drivers door lock modual some months ago. Things were working fine after that.
The door...
I also had this exact situation. When I changed the cabin filter I found a mouse nest on top of it.
I changed the filter but also made small sheet metal pieces to cover the areas between the plastic
cowl and the body where mice could get in. I also installed the seals around the wiper shafts...
This question has been asked on the forum for many years. And the best I can gather is that
we come up with our own approach to it.
I was was thinking about the output test. My thinking is that it is a functionality test only
and that no fluid moves through the ABS unit if the bleeders are...
Have a o2j tranny sitting out of my car.
This thread made me curious about its 5 th gear.
How hard is it to check it and the shaft to see if it is
worth keeping. Any special tools needed
Thanks
Two little things that always bugged me about the rear hatch was having to unlock
it to open it and the broken cable not holding the cover up.
To solve the first irritant, I installed a small electrical switch on the bottom of the hatch that keeps
the latch unlocked . When I want it locked I...
I just recently went through this same thing.
I had broken the plastic clip on one side.
I went to a wrecker and got a old cover which turned out to also have one bad cable.
I found out that it is possible to pry out the rewinding section on the back side and pull
the cable and clip through and...
Had a slight hesitation (almost like limp mode) going up a hill the other day.
Since I have VCDS I thought I would check for fault codes. None recorded.
I know limp mode doesn't usually throw a code.
When I checked MAF specified vs actual at idle they were way off.
It would not go much above...
Engine was replaced at some point and I was just curious to know what year it actually is.
I also have the gauge cluster for it and wasn't sure if I could use it in my 2000 Golf.
Thanks for the replies
Axle back in car. Tomorrow will tighten up all the bolts for the tie rod, ball joint , axle shaft and LCA.
An alignment is scheduled.
Not sure what to think about the missing clip.
Apparently as long as the two cv joints are in position the car can still run and not...
Update;
Took the axle out and couldn't see or find the circlip that is suppose to hold the joint on ...Hmm
Looked in the flange and in the cv boot, not to be seen.
I luckily had one lying around so greased it up and reassembled it.
Don't have new bolts so will reuse them with loctite until I get...
Was replacing the right side ball joint and pulled the strut outward by hand to get some room.
It appears that something separated where the cv axle goes into the gearbox. Or maybe the cv joint came off the shaft?
How do I get this back together.
Should I start by undoing the 6 bolts holding...
Well that's interesting.
I have new LCA bushings waiting to go in. They are the TT type.
The car is now getting a little harsher over bumps as I replace bushings with the TT type.
Have the solid rear bushings in the car already.
