It was the same driver side tail light connector that was the culprit for this code on my mark IV 05 Jetta wagon. Thanks for the thread, it saved me a lot of headache, cleaned the connector and used my Xtool to clear the code.

Not quite. Emissions are NO or NO2 (Nitrogen or nitric (di) oxide). Nitrous oxide for race cars is N2O.

Technically a perfect solution. A TDI engine that doesn't run produces zero emissions. Good luck avoiding the fix. I bet states will be told to not issue new inspection stickers without proof of it. I guess if that happens you can avoid roads entirely and still use your TDI legally in the woods.
