No power is getting to the plug, but the fuse in the fuse box tested as OK. I feel like I've had this...

Parting out 94 jetta gasser Western NC

Howdy y'all, I'm in the process of purchasing a 94 Jetta gasser (blue) in order to repair my steering assembly, front quarter panels, hood, grille, and bumper from a collision years ago. I was wondering what sort of demand there is for other parts for this car. I'll post an in-depth list of...

    Clutch replacement firsts

Shifting and actually getting into gear is difficult. I've been shifting by matching RPM and desired gear for the past few months. I haven't noticed any slipping out of gear. Every time I let a friend borrow it, however, they have shifting problems that manifest by breaking the shifter tower or...

    Clutch replacement firsts

Hello forum friends, I have finally come to the point where I need to replace my clutch. I have never had a car long enough to do this and have no clue what it entails nor what parts I'll need to purchase. Life's struggles combined with my love/hate relationship with this car have left me with...

    Shifter weight bracket snapped

Thanks so much everybody! A light touch of the hammer and chisel to the base of the tower loosened it right up. After some finagling, rough weather, and the invention of new vulgarities the shifter tower from the beetle slid right in, bolted down easily, and worked great. I did notice that I...

    Shifter weight bracket snapped

So I bought a shifter tower assembly from a forum member parting out a 98 tdi beetle, but I can't figure out how exactly to get my old tower loose from the transmission. I removed the two 1/2 in bolts nearest the tranny and played around with various gears without any budge from the tower...

    Shifter weight bracket snapped

1998 a3 Jetta tdi 208k mi., timing belt at 200k, 2 front end collisions I've noticed some finicky shifting since I bought the car but have never had a true problem aside from having a plastic(?) cable mount crack at the shift tower. It kept me from shifting into reverse. This was fixed by a...

Limp from phoenix to north carolina (1403?)

Post mechanic update: Turbo actuator is seized and stuck on full open boost (is the understanding I took away from the explanation at the shop). Shop says this is pretty much a nail in the coffin for the turbo and i ought to replace it with new or used as rebuilding isn't appearantly an option...

Limp from phoenix to north carolina (1403?)

Thanks for the advice. I'll check those lines again and make it up to see vw specialties after a paycheck or 2. Is there a way to determine if a vac hose has gone bad aside from just replacing them? Isn't thee a valve or switch that can get sticky and not open fully? There are so many 1403...

Limp from phoenix to north carolina (1403?)

I've used VW Specialties just north of Asheville in weaverville and find them thorough yet a bit out of my budget. So the goal is to continue to learn how to fix as much as i can on my jetta. And a trip into town usually lasts 2 days to get everything done that I need to. Now that I'm here I've...
