    Peculiar no crank, no start

Time for some closure. After realizing that I had sufficient power running through the circuit, I made the jump for an ignition switch. Cars running like a champ. I didn't suspect the switch because it was a fairly new one, but it seems these switches are prone to degradation. Thanks all for...

    Peculiar no crank, no start

Could it be a bad ignition switch if I am getting power down the circuit? Im beginning to suspect the starter, even though it new (reman).

    Peculiar no crank, no start

Hit a dead end here. I tried to jump the clutch interlock with no success. The relay panel is getting energized (12.xx volts) and I tried replacing the relay itself to rule that out My multi meter shows 11.xx volts at the trigger wire. I assume this is normal and enough to crank the starter...

    Peculiar no crank, no start

So I finally had some time to get my hands dirty. I opened the relay panel and I've found that it is in fact the relay 53 (the clutch switch interlock) that is making the noise. I know its this relay because I can feel it vibrate while its squealing :)... So, with that said, would the problem...

    Peculiar no crank, no start

Hey Mike, Thanks for chiming in. I looked at the thread pretty extensively as well as other resources. I have not had the time to work on the issue due to other obligations and will be sure to update when I either fix the issue or don't. The squealing buzzer noise almost reminds me of the...

    Torn CV Boot Repair Options

lol @ grease being good moisturizer. Looks like I'll be ordering the CV joint + boot kit. Just when you think the job is too tough, the TDI club tells you otherwise.. Found this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yakgyl4Tht8 , documenting the removal of the axle from the car. Assuming the...

    Torn CV Boot Repair Options

Thanks for the replies gents, and thank for trying to inspire confidence turbocharged798. I'm not sure I could do the job with the limited tools I have (no air tools). Their are several write ups and even videos that I could follow. I'm very tempted to do it myself, but this is uncharted...

    Torn CV Boot Repair Options

Howdy all, My passenger side inner CV boot is torn and has been for quite some time. Being lazy (and cheap) I never did anything about it. The torn boots been slinging grease all over the heat shield, so I would imagine any grease thats left (if any) on the joint has spread pretty thin...

kind of sick of the term "stealership"

I think the bad experiences extend way past 10% of a dealerships customer base. You expect to pay a bit much when you frequent any dealership. They're angle is that you pay more to have your auto worked on by mechanics trained to work on your specific make and model. But it does not end there...

what is this nipple on top of the intake manifold?

lol, I thought it funny that there was a cap on it making it look like something belonged there. If you pull that cap off you'll see its just a bolt.

    VNT Actuator Adjustment

The preload was set to 3 inHg to about 17 inHg. Not far off from TSB settings but i suppose that little bit might make a world of difference. I also tried the TSB settings and I still got spikes on the graph, which is why I tried to dumb it down, but I think I may have shortened, when I wanted...

    VNT Actuator Adjustment

Useful stuff... I just took another reading and here is what I got: http://www.flickr.com/photos/51493480@N06/4954842864/sizes/l/in/photostream/ Pretty scary actually. This graph is from 2nd gear to 4th gear, punching it all the way through. You can see that when it spikes, it exceeds 2500...
