    Dash lighting problem

I should have posted my solution to this some time ago, It was the cheap euroswitch that I bought off of eBay. I replaced it with the oem euroswitch and no problems now.

Starting issues with P0251 CEL GP

So, I've searched everything with P0251 and can't find what's happening to me every morning when I try to start my 03 Jetta TDI. Without fail over the past week or so when i crank the engine for the first time it lugs and misses and smokes badly, so I shut it off. That is not the uncommon...

    Dash lighting problem

I'll assume you're saying to replace the dimmer switch. I've tried adjusting the dimmer with no change, i'll look for a new dimmer and give that a try. Thanks

    Dash lighting problem

I have an odd problem, when i turn my headlight switch on (parking or full headlights), the instrument cluster lighting, AC control lighting, vent lighting, etc. doesn't come on. The lighting will come on occasionally after some random time period has passed. They appear to come on sooner in...

    additional key/remote?

Im trying to resolve gray areas in my understanding. I have a 2003 Jetta so i need a 7-digit SKC, correct? Lets say i use a VAG Tacho and get this 7-digit SKC, what then with the WSC and Date required by VCDS? Or does this VAG Tacho program the keys within its software and you need to use VCDS...

    additional key/remote?

Could you further explain "using special software/interface". I understand that this is not VCDS, which I have. I also would like to get a couple of extra keys/fobs as I now only have one. My local stealership was wanting over $400 for two keys and programming the fobs. The special interface...

    need expert TDI assistance

The mechanic I know of is in Northern Alabama, in Athens, you would likely be better off going to one of the B'ham gurus. Athens is another 90 to 100 miles north of B'ham so towing will kill you.

Vacuum Distillation of Methanol from Biodiesel

I have a collector inline ahead of the vacuum pump so any condesate should be captured prior to entering the pump. What temp to you use for processing? I'm asking this question because I had 40 gallons of seperated BD and I heated it to 135-140F and pulled 25inHg on it, had cooling water...

Vacuum Distillation of Methanol from Biodiesel

Anybody using vacuum distillation for the recovery of methanol from separated biodiesel? If any of you biodiesel-guru-type people are, what temp and vacuum do you typically start seeing output from the condenser? Just FYI for the newly biodiesel educated, vacuum distillation works by using...

Looking for Bio Diesel around Huntsville Ala

    Huntsville (Madison) mechanic?

I know a great guy in Limestone County, he does work on my Jetta TDI. Look up Athens Imports in the phone book. He doesn't work on a few specific things like transmission and alignment

    bio-d legality question...

Here's how it typically goes... Get a business license for fuel distibutor, tax ID, etc. for starting up the business. You may have to pay a fee to the city and/or county for collecting the WVO. If you intend to make more than ~500 gallons per year then it really gets expensive and complicated...

    Alabama people in here!

Wow, i've been away from this thread a while and there seems to be a lot of interest in a North Alabama GTG, I would gladly attend and would love to swap information on all things TDI, I would also like to share/exchange info on biodiesel if any of you are making your own as I am. If you're...

    TDIs in Huntsville

I can safely say that if you stay in HUNTSVILLE, AL for long enough you will see several TDIs, mine being one of them. I generally see 2 or 3 a day (and no, not usually the same ones) on my commute from neighboring Athens, appr 35 miles. You're right about the small car to pickup/SUV ratio...

    Greasing a 2008?

Just from a reputable source from a different automotive manufacturer, the piezo injectors clogged within a week of testing biodiesel due to the orifice dimensions and the manner in which at least these injectors function. I would not feel safe using bio in the new VW injectors, but I didn't...

The test: Will I see 10% MPG reduction with B99

I consistently got ~48mpg on ULSD before trying my own B100, I consistently get ~44mpg on B100. I will typically use a B66 or similar and even that gets better than the B100. I can also tell a definite difference in acceleration from ULSD to B100 with the ULSD performing the better of the two...
