Diagnosing and Fixing Limp mode for A4 1.9TDI [low power troubleshooting]

Sorry, maybe a dumb question but if I pull 20in vacuum at the actuator and it drops to 15in about 10 mins, is that considered a leak, or, is that a generally accepted drop in vacuum, or, should it hold indefinitely? ( I read all 26 pgs of this but I don't think it's been specified) If a...

Looking for input/advice on auto transmission failure

My 01M started giving me signs 50k miles ago at 136k...but today is not any worse than when it started doing that. I try to stay away from any hard shifting but do run it at 80-90 once in a while just to load it up a bit.

Diagnosing and Fixing Limp mode for A4 1.9TDI [low power troubleshooting]

Would anyone have a theory about outside air temp and limp mode frequency? My experiences are that it drops into LM when the temp is 35+/- 5 deg F but in the afternoon, as much as I try, I can't get it to do the same. I commute 70 mi one way in NorCal and have a fairly steep, approx 2 mile...

    No Crank

I just went thru this a couple of weeks ago also. Root cause was the ground wire to the starter/solenoid. That connector has a rubber boot that houses the wire. In my case, the wire was broken at the connection, but that boot kept the wire in place and promoted intermittent starting. Quick check...

Read all about it by searching on '01M'. Get it changed by someone who knows what they're doing and hope for the best... if you have someone change it, let us know what it looks like.

Thats the connector that goes from battery gnd to Terminal 50 on the starter -bentley pg97-65 The oem connector part is 357 872 771 or DA55GF5 444571(or 444521). The part numbers are very small, hard to read even with a magnifying glass. The wire has a part number but dont know what it is...

    another wont start intermittent

The culprit... It survived the first continuity and pull tests, but while fidgeting with other things, the connector finally separated. I suspect the green rubber insert helped the connection stay together longer than it should have. I might suggest, to the next guy who has to do this...

Inside view of 01M TR Switch. Somehow I think that simple continuity testing is not going to work here...anyone know how one could go about checking this? Do I need to run 12v thru it? Starting to think I'm at the replace-it-and-see-if-it-fixes-it-point... thanks in advance for reading this..
