2 stroke oil in your diesel = smiles?

Up from the dead... Two more years have passed, three+ years total since I began using the TC-W3 / PS Silver regimen in my AHU. 1/2 oz. TC-W3 and 1/2 oz. PS Silver per gallon with SS 50 cetane exclusively. I have been fastidious in keeping this up with every fuel fill for over three years...

2 stroke oil in your diesel = smiles?

I am now fully one year into the TC-W3 / PS Silver regimen. 1/2 oz. TC-W3 and 1/2 oz. PS Silver per gallon. SS 50 cetane exclusively. As of Nov 26, 2016 I have owned my 1998 AHU Jetta for 19 years as sole owner. That is a long time. I always kept up on all maintenance (a slip there or two) and...

Volkswagen's Clean Air Act violations on 2009+ TDIs spark huge recall, investigations

LOL! Yeah, you are right! Anyhoo, 11 or so years ago I took a job 1.6 miles from my house. Not good for a diesel commute, so I actually have to go "joy riding" to keep them in top shape! I currently have four VW's... '03 2.0 Wagon, '04 1.8T Wagon, 2012 JSW TDI, and 1998 Jetta TDI. Kids drive...

Volkswagen's Clean Air Act violations on 2009+ TDIs spark huge recall, investigations

I have a 2012 JSW TDI 6MT with 16,459 miles on it. It will be paid off soon. My plan since purchase is to get it paid off then perform some sensible solid performance enhancements. I have the plan in place, just need to see the outcome of this fiasco before moving forward. If I can...

2 stroke oil in your diesel = smiles?

I have been using PS Silver, Stanadyne, etc. for years... Jumped on the Optilube Summer/XPD bandwagon around 2010 or so. I have always used synthetic oils... Delvac 1, RT6, M1TDT since my 1998 AHU TDI was new. Great running motor that I have cared for well. I read the LS1 "Sarge" thread over...

Southern States Diesel - Any Good?

SS "Gold" 50 Cetane makes my TDI units run a tad better... I alternate between SS and Shell based on proximity and tank level. I prefer the SS diesel. Works for me.

    Life of Uprated Timing Belt?

VW... Keep your hopes low... It typically isn't the rubber band that destroys them. Ancillary components kill them sometimes... I have never had an issue. Fixed a few heads for friends over time. Regardless of model EVER, 50K/6 years on VW Diesels is my routine. Never had an issue with a...

Another airbag light question (I swear I searched first)

Had the same code a couple years ago in my 1998 AHU Jetta TDI... I chased the wiring... Huge waste of time, and found ZERO issues. I Ordered a "Dor(k)man" unit from Amazon... Same code after replacing. No amusement/not surprised to go cheap...

    Rear brake caliper leaking.....

Yeah, been to Boston many times... I think licking the sidewalk in August would raise blood pressure. Still love Milk Street bars...

    Rear brake caliper leaking.....

Wow, crazy... I have done many and used an 8mm hex 3/8" drive unit. All that ever was required was seating the bit correctly/securely and a few quick whacks with my palm. Do not go there... LOL! All my cars and those I help out are in VA... Perhaps less corrosion...

    Rear brake caliper leaking.....

YO... Be certain to use new OEM bolts and torque the caliper carrier bolts to spec... One of the few places you can actually get a torque wrench easily in place... The odd part about removing caliper carrier bolts on VW's is that you loosen/remove them and go "WOW, what moron didn't tighten...

CV boots - rubber vs hard plastic?

OG "hard" plastic are the best. When I change oil, I get an old sock and some silicone oil and clean/rub the boot grooves in a "shoe shine" manner... Do ALL the grooves. Keeps the crud/dirt off, reducing abrasion... Conditions them as well. After 18 years, they are in as new condition...

    Stretched Drum Brake Cables?

How old are the cables? It does seem you are stretched to the max. Yep, check the wedges first as previously suggested... but even at their max range, they only garner you about 3/8" total cable take-up. If you replace the cables, be sure to drip/drizzle 100% silicone oil into the new...

    part n° wanted

If 20mm, try N10124501 If 30mm, try N10226501 Pull one out and measure the hole. From my limited research, 20mm seems most likely for your car. Good luck!

KBS? http://www.kbs-coatings.com/ Really... You need to examine their offerings to confirm they offer what you want. Underbody plugs? I went through 1stVWparts, ECS, VWpartsvortex, IDparts, Dealer, etc... Enough to drive me nearly insane... Between them all and their deviations concerning...
