    Fuse #14

I had read somewhere on this site about the possibility that the wiring going into the rear hatch may be the problem. So, I looked into the wiring looms on both the drivers and passengers side and found that on the driver's side, the covering on two of the wires had broken, however no bare...

    Fuse #14

Hi There, We own a 2004 Golf TDI, great car! But recently issue with windows won't open, close, interior lights out, remote locking not working. As I searched this site, seems these are all a related problem. I replaced Fuse #14 couple of times, but keeps blowing, so it seems there is a short...

    Tire Pressure

Re: Tire Pressure and FMVSS 110 =( So we are back to the tire contact size issue; you see, I assume that if they are equal then the TDI will be in a "neutral" handling position and not oversteering or understeering when I go into a corner. Is this correct? You see, I understood car...

    Tire Pressure

See my earlier post today respecting the recommendations for my car and tire type. What I did was figured out the weight on each corner of the car and then figured out what pressure I would have to put in each tire to support that weight equally. As you can imagine, there are many combinations...

    Tire Pressure

The recommended pressures from VW, in psi, for my car are 33.5 in the Front and 42 in the rear. The maximum pressure suggested by Nokian is 51 psi. I don't understand the huge difference recommended by VW and why they want the front lower than the rear. As I said, changing the way I did it...

    Tire Pressure

I am planning on running 38 psi in my front snow Nokian Hakka's and 34 in the rear. When I did a spreadsheet, these pressures seem to give about the same tire contact patch area at each corner considering 1 190 lb driver, 140 lb passenger and a half full tank of diesel. Isn't this what we...

TDI Heater....What do you do with the plug?

I was considering the same thing, then I discovered what I believe to be a better solution. My Golf has a Bra on it. I just ran the cord up from the heater, out the right side of the car above the right headlight and then tuck it into the Bra. When I want to plug in, I just pull it out. When...

Want to hear from Nokian RSI owners.

I have the RSi's for the first time this winter as well, although haven't had much snow yet to try, but they seem great so far on the little snow and ice I have been on. I am curious about the tire pressure. On an earlier post I started about tire pressure, I had all kinds of advice on what...

What Tire Pressure Would You Run?

Are you driving a 2004 Golf TDI, for the sticker on the inside of the driver's front door says 33 Front and 42 Rear. I have now set mine at 38 Front and 33 Rear to get the same load on all four tires.

What Tire Pressure Would You Run?

An update, I created an Excel Spreadsheet which allows me to insert people, luggage, fuel etc. and then determine the weight on each tire of the car. Based on this, I now run 38 psi in the front and 33 psi in the rear which gives me basically the same size tire contact patch in each corner...

    diesel in Calgary area

Interesting that you prefer the Shell Regular to the Shell Super. I was going to buy the Super today because I thought it would have better "additives" for our area and time of year??

I see some great posts that have links to web sites right in them. Sometimes there are pictures as well or links to other posts on this site? How do you do that or can you direct me to a post that explains it? Thanks
