Airplanes insulate exhaust as well as race engine for scavenging and velocity that increases efficiency amd power..
So, you'd want to wrap and insulate the manifold, Turbine and the entire exhaust....
Not cool it !
He was probably referring to a aftermarket compound turbo setup on a Duramax although his description of the plumbing was wrong. It is common for performance Duramaxes to be upgraded to compound twin turbos.
This thread is pretty funny
I guess everyone should STOP driving in their TDI's here in the northeast USA in the winter(LOL)....... D1 is blended with D2 all winter to reduce gelling.
Absolutely NOTHING wrong with D1 other than a little MPG loss due to lower BTU content per gallon.
.
LOW SAPS = Lower Protection, DPF emissions friendly
HIGH SAPS = Higher Protection, NOT DPF Friendly....
"SAPS" ...or the "additive package" that protects the engine from wear......isn't friendly with DPF's, thus a Emissions Friendly "LOW SAPS" version available.
Regarding older API...
Amen !
Also if emulsified water was ok, no diesel fuel system would have a water separator that removes emulsified and demulsified water....:D
Here's some great info on how water destroys CR Diesel injection system parts(WITH PICTURES)...
I've ran Pre turbo water injection on vehicles before and have seen compressor erosion myself first hand, water injection belongs after the turbo!
And don't try to go higher than 50% methanol, snow's boost juice works good but it's cheaper to mix your own if you have a methanol source.
Try reading CAT's info on their fuel filters about water, you may be surprised. The lack of a bottom drain is meaningless, CAT designed their filters to Eliminate ALL free water and up to 87% of Emulsified water......like I said, read their own publications...
That's hilarious !!!! I love it !!
I'm starting to think that some Cummins pickup guys are starting to become the symbol of arrogance and ignorance, a very bad combo!! LOL
Exactly!!
The fuel manufacturers have to meet the MINIMUM ALLOWABLE SPEC, that is not adequate for me, I want the LEAST wear possible. If that is easily improved for a few cents a gallon, I'm going to be using the additive to reduce friction&wear.
And their spec'd "special sauce".....er.. oils suck for the most part!!
Mobil Delvac 1 / TDT 5w-40 is a superior oil to the castrol garbage that VW uses!!
No oil manufacturer wants to constantly chase some low volume user like VW that has constantly changing oil specs, it simply doesn't...
You should know that the LB7's injector failure problems had nothing to do with wear out, they simply broke from poor design.
Many would split the injectors body and NO lubricity will fix those pieces of crap !
On the LBZ motor, with much better injectors, I have seen between 1-2 MPG...
205F has never and will never hurt any diesel engine as long as the coolant pressure and mix ratio are correct to prevent boil.
Basically the temp difference you are trying to achieve is like the Powerstroke guys doing the 203F thermostat.
If oil is really a concern, run a 5w-40 synthetic but...
The taller overdrive in a manual trans would be nice but mandatory shifting blows for the small tradeoff of fuel economy.
A 7 speed US DSG would be nice... but a deeper overdrive 6th gear or taller final drive ratio with wider gearing.
The objective is to lessen that wear scar and live longer ...
I've been running 2 stroke added and it raises my MPG every time I use It and the motors do seem to run smoother and quieter with more pep.
As a side note, one vehicle is a 2010 TDI with the DPF and it has 35K miles on it now since...
Amen!!
I REFUSE to vote for a party that only represents government power expansion anymore!!
Ever since BHO, I will be registered as a Republican and voting straight ticket unless the DNC realizes that freedom can't coexist with a big government!!
All CAT absolute filters remove -or- absorb water AFAIK but not all have a drain fitting. If the filter plugs, you spin a fresh one on.
CAT makes excellent fuel filters and also has a lot of info on water and other contaminant damage in fuel systems, check it out sometime.
Good choice in...
