Sdeck thanks I think you might be right. I had stupidly thought to put the tires with more tread up front notrrealizing that with two sets of rims I hav not been rotating the tires across the rims themselves.

That's the plan for this evening's festivities. But I cannot believe just swapping wheels would create such a fuss. My tires that are mounted on the standard AVUS Jetta rims are your garden variety Michelin MX4s. Unless I'm totally out to lunch I didn't notice an arrow indicating tire direction...

I always thought tires were directional but I examined them closely and couldn't find any arrows on the sidewall. Should I remount with the wheels in the air???

Hey j martell...ya actually I did. Well let me clarify ...for the three wheels whose nuts I could not crack in the air...the car was on the ground when I cracked them. The one wheel whose nuts I did manage to crack in the air is not making noise. (Please tell me this is not bad news).

...with a jack I ain't so handy. So having 2 sets of summer and winter rims I thought to myself...I don't need a mechanic to fleece me out of $40...I will just change to summers myself right here in my driveway using the jack and wrench VW provides under the trunk...besides...what could go...

Update, battery is fine. Gonna remove the tray check the cables and give the starter a few taps. Stay tuned...

Thanks. So may-be I'm not understanding something. The Wahler is the OEM but is only rated for 80 degree celcius? My coolant was at 80 degree celcius after the meat thermometer test anyways. Why should I replace?

Got a few questions on the thermostat. Is this something that either works or doesn't work or does it degrade gradually over time? Did the meat thermometer test today after 10 mins [city] car was at 75 degree. Jumped on the highway at 120km/H for about 20 mins...car got up to 80 degrees...

Also, forgot to mention but I'll be having the intake manifold cleaned out [if it's dirty] I would assume that - of the services listed - a cleaned intake would give me the most definitive impact on highway passing power and MPGs?

Could be the actuator NOT the motor itself. My car has 220K clicks on the dial and the motors are fine...use the windows daily. Sure it's the motor???

Just wondering if I can re use the same bolt in a helixcoil set up in my oil pan a few times??? Sure would like to postpone my oil pan change till 2013???
