    2000 Golf TDI 5 spd GLS 146k $3700

2000 Golf TDI 5 spd GLS - St. Paul, MN I am parting with my VW. I am the original owner, however, there has been one other. I bought it new back in 1999 owned it till about 2005, sold it to a good friend, and bought it back from him in 2013. I got it back from him when he got a new job with a...

    Father-in-law selling his TDI

Father-in-law selling his 2012 auto TDI My father-in-law has his TDI listed in the Wichita, KS area on craigslist. I believe the dealer has done all the service (not much with the low miles). Take a look if you are interested in a low miles 2012 Jetta sedan auto...

    Sad story, happy ending!

These cars definitely leave their mark. I hope you enjoy your hunt and are successful. I am enjoying my "new" ownership so far. I changed the oil and checked the air filters. Sure enough I found a nice mouse next on top of the cabin air filter with dead mouse included. Oh well, pretty usual from...

    Sad story, happy ending!

The first VW I ever purchased was also the first car I ever purchased new. It was a 2000 Golf TDI that I bought near the end of that same year. I quickly joined tdiclub and learned all I could about tdi maintenance. I loved that car and cared for it the best I knew how. In 2004 I had the chance...

Family is about to outgrow the Jetta

Thanks for your comments everyone, I feel like scurvy and I would have a bunch in common. I want the utility of hauling my family but do not need lots of power or space (99% of the time). We plan to look into a roof top carrier for traveling purposes. I think the Mazda5 will feel huge compared...

Family is about to outgrow the Jetta

For us we have an 8 and 5 year old, so buckling usually isn't a problem. However, we may end up putting the 3 year old in the back on occasion to mix it up, then we gotta reach back there and do the buckling, or make the 8 year old do it.

Family is about to outgrow the Jetta

Another good point. Thus the Mazda5, while it only seats 6, has the ability to let the kids walk through between the two captains chairs in the second row to access the 3rd row. We did have some difficulty getting the car seats to fit snuggly in the third row, but I think if I was given some...

Family is about to outgrow the Jetta

If I remember the Outlander well, the back seat was super tiny and not at all conducive to carseats.

Family is about to outgrow the Jetta

Exactly the case. The Mazda5 has a 2,2,2 seating arrangement with minimal space left over in the back. The smaller crossover vehicles like the Sorento, Santa Fe, Outback, were all possibilities, but the real world mpg numbers we saw on edmunds forums scared us away. I will have to look at Gas...

    Your dream diesel

A diesel minivan that got mid 30s or higher would be nice. I need a family hauler, not horsepower.

Family is about to outgrow the Jetta

We have crammed three kids with car seats into the back of the Jetta for almost three years now, but come this summer, we likely will need a place to sit four children. It is so aggravating that the US market has no options for a guy like me on a tight budget. Our top choice right now is a...

    Start Up Noise

So to be clear, the sound occurs after you release the key and the engine has presumably already fired up? My car will make a low "moooo" sound in the warmer months occasionally just after the engine fires up, and now that it is cold out, it is a higher pitch much worse sound nearly every...

Entering the security code for my radio

Mine you enter by using the radio station preset buttons. For the first digit you hit the "1" key over and over again, for the second digit the "2" key, and so on. Then when it is entered you press and hold the ">" search button on the left side for two + seconds. Good luck.

No Power to Radio after Battery Removed

Thanks jettawreck, it was the fuse on the back of the radio, didn't see that one initially. Now I have a working radio again! By the way, every time my radio loses power from the battery, it always asks for the code?? I have it memorized now.

No Power to Radio after Battery Removed

I just got my car back from the body shop after I took out a deer with the front end. All is well with the car, instrument panel, A/C, everything, but there is no power to the radio. I assumed I would have to reset the radio's anti theft system when I got the car back, but there is nothing...

No Power to Dash or Starter

Ok, so I just got home, checked the batter. Reading 12.7, then turned the ignition on, this immediately cut power out to the dash and everything no lights, nothing, power reading at battery was 12.5. Then I got back in the car and without touching anything, the dash came to life and glow plugs...

No Power to Dash or Starter

Update: When I got home from work last night I went to my dead Jetta and put the key in. This time when I turned the key to on, I got dash lights, but when I tried to start, the door locks just started clicking and humming but nothing happened in the engine compartment. After that no more dash...
