guy that did belts at 145k? practically had to beg him...kept saying not worth it....my local guy was great, but retired...I have a lead on retired military who does diesels....I look at list here again.. Thanks

I hadn't thought of that...he was saying it needs this, this, this, lots of little things....we didn't work up final quote because we don't have parts...hmmm I'm 30 miles west of state college. 16878 zip.... I guess I should try finding a new mechanic and getting a non dealer cost.. That $5,300...

Took in to dealer for recall repair, they send me a video..needs rear brakes, rotors, springs, boots on tie rods rotted 202,000 miles new belts at 145k, trans serviced 200k... Runs like a beast...but my diesel guy retired and dealer wants over 5k to fix everything (a few bulbs and nonsense)...

I couldn't find "proof" of timing belt change at 80k...I dropped price to cover the cost of belt, water pump, pulley ...than found a vw guy near me to do it....she lives 2 hours from me...not likely she'd go back to him...

2012 passat ...Just had VAG scan performed...all normal...this happened once before...dealer added def,did regeneration...all was good for 2 months. The def light is back on...started at 20 miles to no restart. I just sold the car, I got my daughters jetta tdi and didn't need 2 cars...I feel...

Probably take to dealer...local guys say changing at this point may ruin transmission....

2001 jetta manual transmission. I read these are lifetime transmissions and don't need service. I called local shop with much diesel experience. He said I'm better off leaving it alone as he can't guarantee it will work after servicing it....Does this sound right? No issues with transmission...

Let fuel tank get to 1/4 added 16 oz sea foam, let it run..shut off, check engine light didnt come bsck on...
