I drive a manual specifically for the fuel economy and reliability. I have 280,000+ miles on the original clutch with no issues and have only changed the oil in the transmission. I seriously doubt a DSG would come close in cost of ownership to the manual. Steven

I've registered cars from AZ and FL that I have purchased and all you have to do is pass the SMOG and then register it. Of course to pass SMOG assumes all of the emissions equipment is connected. Steven

I had the opposite of you 4 years ago, totaled Beetle bought 02 Jetta to replace the Beetle. I have used many parts from the Beetle on my Jetta. I actually like how the hoses were run on the Beetle and used the parts to run the same in my Jetta.
